| This thread is about: Type R is "hopeless", it's in Type-R at the Honda Civic forum Civinfo; I agree Duecut. I bet the guy who had spent the £600 on mods was pleased. LOL... | ||

I think If the FD2 was available here rather than import I might have been tempted as I think the FN2 is under powered. 225 Bhp is more in the hot hatch league these days

Hmmm maybe, but the FN2 still beat your old car round the TG track and thats more bhp, torque, bigger engine and a turbo to boot. Its what you do with it that counts really

I think the CAR mag. has also a test from 2007 pitting the FN2 against other hatches such as the Mini Cooper S-If I remember that test correctly, the FN2 ended up winning that comparision. |

Before i got the GT i owned the Golf GTI for 2.5 years and to be fair its a cracking car in all ways but i cannot tell the difference in the suspension, bar the civ is a lot harsher, though i dont think i have a torsion beam on the front
In fact i do find the Civ GT a lot sharper and find it can take corners sharper than the golf. Though torsion beam cant be that bad, you only have to ask your mates who drive Vauxhall VXR's, Megane R26's and Pug 207 GTI's just to name a few. Though its sort of funny why that fact got left out during their TG reviews Get the Civ, its a great little car and still gets looks off people, even more when she's (yep mine is one of the female ones) been washed and waxed. Though owning one this weekend may not be too good, specially as they are prediciting dry pumps |

with regard to the way the FN2 drive, I read a comment of an experienced driver (on a forum I can't recall) compared it to how the S2000 drives: it's a FR, yet it is something else, and it drives differently. somehow I feel my CTR exactly like this, for sure it's a FF, yet I just keep taking lines differently than I would with another car. can't say if it's due to weight ratio, torsion beam, susp setup, or a combination of them...

Has anyone read up on the Chassis on the FN2 on the Honda website. It says:
'The MacPherson strut/torsion beam chassis provides the basis for the Civic Type R. Much of the development of the chassis was carried out in Europe, with European drivers, to ensure ride and handling characteristics suited the road and the customers. As the UK is by far the biggest market for Type R in Europe, much consideration and time was spent setting the car up for British roads. The result is a car that's incredibly rewarding to drive, but also that's perfectly balanced and easy to handle.' So it was built for the UK then? Who the hell did they ask then? |

what I meant is that the s2k is a fr, yet it feels different from other fr, and apparently the same goes for the fn2: it's a ff yet it feels different from other ff. there's no comparison whatsoever between ff and fr. sorry for being unclear. |
