Rage alloys good or bad?

I will be ordering my CTR in a few weeks and really like the look of the rage alloys. My question is: Do they effect the ride much more and also do they affect the handling?

Cheers

I've got the Rage Alloys and quite frankly I don't find them any harsher than the standard 18's, but then I don't find the ride Harsh anyway as I'm used to driving a car with a ride like that. I have 3 mates with FN2's with the 18's and we don't really notice any difference but it all depends on the road surface, weather conditions and how you drive the car. One even has 2 CTR's one Milano with the 19's and a NHB with the standard 18's and he prefers to drive the Milano.

The tyres are a bit of a bugger on them especially when it comes to replacing them and especially if you want to stick with the Yokohama's. SO you may want to factor this into it too.

Oh and by the looks of the signature on your posts, I would say you've already made up your mind that you want them. They do look ace, especailly when you drive by someone at night and the light just reflects off them, but as mentioned if you kerb them its a whole new alloy as they cost so much to be fixed its cheaper to buy a new one

Why are they unfixable?

The Speedline, aka Rage alloys have a diamond cut finish, and to get them looking like new for anything more than superficial scuffing, they will need re-machining on a lathe with new metal added if the gouge is really deep. Several companies will do this, but a workshop is needed, and most won't set up just for individual wheels, so not something that the mobile refurb guys can do on-site.

Well explained. When my mate kerbed one of his 18's the guy he rang asked if they were the 19's and then basically said what veritas has said. He did also say that the alloy would have to be sent away and it would take upto 3 weeks to fix and it was more expensive to have the wheel fixed than to buy a new one.

Ive just changed my standard 18s to the 19 inch rage options and the ride is considerably harsher, but to be honest the upgrade in the looks department make up for this

I've had both the standards and 19's (because the rages were on back order when i ordered my car!) I can't say i noticed any difference between the 2 apart from the rages look better.

I didnt realise they were so expensive to repair tho!!

slightly less compliant on the 19's with a slower turn in too, however, unnoticeable on the road.
track wise, you will notice a bit more.
there is more feedback on the OEM Yoko 19's as opposed to the 18's as a consequence of the Yoko's stiffer sidewall construction over the OEM bridgestone.
i have the 19"'s.

simon.

I've just fitted 19" wheels to my car and I have noticed a very slight difference in the ride. But it is so small I can't say it is going to bother me compared to the 18" wheels.
