type r oil level

hi just been checking my oil level for the second time and notice the level is filling in the hole at the top of the dipstick. first time i thought it was just beacuse i was checking it quite soon after the engine had been run, but its still filling in the hole when i checked it after leaving it to stand for a few hours. Doesnt seem to be over the top of the hole but it is filling it, is this an issue, should i head back to the dealer and get them to drain some out?

just left it to stand for a longer time and the level seems to be just a little over the top hole, is this still ok?

Hmm id still say its ok in my opinion of course , but if you're worried phone your dealer so they have no comeback if anything goes wrong.

There are different schools of thought on when you should check your oil and the level will be different depending on when you do check it.

For example, I always check mine after a 10 minute run , then 5 minute switched off on a flat , and then check.

Never checked my oil cold whilst the car has been sitting for hours.

The manual says to check the oil after 3-4 minutes of turning the engine off. If you are leaving it for longer then it may be over the top hole. I would nt worry about it, the excess oil will soon burn away! Dont bother getting it drained out if its slightly over, not worth the hassle. I over filled mine a few weeks ago and its now back to the correct level, you can never get it exactly on max.

Just checked my oil level ( again )
I think its tricky too see precisely how much oil is in there...

The lowest (hole) is full, but its hard to see where the level is between the holes. Maybe a little bit higher than the lowest hole, but im not sure..
Is it too late if the lowest hole is not full with oil, or does the type r have a "its time to change warning light" i think that the 1.8 sport has ?

Did the check 5-10 minutes after the engine was turned off. 5800 miles now.

If it's getting down to the lowest hole, it is time to top it up.

You need to be sure of the level though as adding too much can damage the engine so be careful
