Actually 38.4mpg is rather good for the Type R
The speedo generally reads about 6-10 percent over so that would be around 70mph

I would have a look under the bonnet and make sure there isnt a diesel under there.

I only get 38mpg driving like a monk with minimal VTEC ! The best I have had in one jouney is 52 mpg. Overall average @ 31.5mpg

The MPG and performance do get better as the miles build up though

Mines currently reading 25.8, I dream of 38.4

Lots of town driving (stop-start, spead humps etc) is not good in a CTR. Hence I cycled to work today and friday!

Thats good lawman......I'm also glad to see that there is someone else getting as good mpg as me over a similar distance. However I have been kicking the arse out the thing a little since I returned from my trip but still get good mpg currently. Infact getting more from a CTR than a Chipped Cooper S!

I was impressed with my mpg, the other week, over a 500 mile journey, managed to see 34.5, which is pretty amazing, really wasn't driving that quickly though, but the good thing about it is if you want to drive economically you can in the type R, unlike my last car the Focus St, which was just terrible, no matter how you drove the thing, averaged 22 or less.

Sorry for using the Ford word!!
