Unhappy 10-15 Mph accident - New tailgate required!!

I went to pick my car from the bodyshop yesterday. When I looked at the area that had been repaired, I wasn't happy with the way the tailgate was lining up with the bumper. They tried refitting the bumper, only to find that the tailgate frame had been damaged in the accident, they hadn't noticed, and that it would need replaced!!!
They'd also fitted the plastic panel on the inside of the bootlip on top of the rubber seal, which made it stick up about 1/2 Inch at each side. Do these places not have an inspection process??
The insurance assessor said he'd have to re-submit my claim, and await approval before he could order the tailgate. That'll be another week+ without my car, not amused.

Was it a Honda approved bodyshop or just the insurance company's approved repairer that you went to?

When I got my car damaged I insisted that it went to a Honda bodyshop to be repaired and I also insisted that I get a new tailgate and not to repair, fill and paint the tailgate as I wanted my car back in "brand new" condition and not "as new" condition. Incidently my tailgate was out of alignment after the crash but perfect after being replaced.

The only problems I encountered were having to wait about 6 weeks before my car could go in to get repaired and then waiting about 3 weeks to get the car back due to Honda being unable to supply bumpers in Milano Red that were anywhere near the same shade as my car, may not have as much problem matching NHB.

Hope you get your car back repaired properly, and to see you at the meet in St Andrews if you have got your car back.

Not sure if they are Honda approved to be honest. Paint wise, it looked fine, as you say the bumper etc comes pre-painted from Honda. I left them in no doubt that, I won't accept the car back unless it's 100%.
A friend of a friend is a panel beater in a high end repair centre in Glasgow. I'm going to take him with me (hopefully) when I go back to collect the car.

BTW, was the Brera you were hired, a silver 57 plate?

No the Brera was a black 57 plate, never been so glad to hand a car back in my life.... just about hated everything about the car.
I only done 105 miles in it the 3 weeks I had it because I disliked it that much, also not economical fuel wise as I put £26.00 of diesel in it to take it back to the same amount of fuel that I received it with. mind you I just used it for short journeys because I found it so uninspiring to drive, but I'm sure a lot of people like them.... I'm just glad I didn't pay £28,000 for one.

It's smooth for a diesel, but as you say, not economical. I's a very nice looking machine though!

The Brera was on my 'could buy' list when I went for the Civic Type R. I still get second thoughts when I see one drive past - did I do the right thing etc. So I'm glad that you prefer the Civic. It was mainly the price and depreciation that put me off it, and I never got around to driving one.

Yeh was a good looking car, but I thought the engine was a bit agricultural, sounded rough and the gear change was very notchy.... maybe it was just the car that I had.

Without a doubt

p.s brawnr, I made a version of your seat protectors out of alcantara and fitted them the day after getting my car, I just could'nt live with the thought of having shiny worn seats.

The one I have is the same. 1st, 2nd & 3rd are especially bad.

The thing that would put me off buying one most of all, is the plastic panel above the rear view mirror, with interior lights and roof controls on. It looks like something a 3 year old could have made at nursery, and really cheapens the interior of the car.

Nice one, I've still got mine on and there's no wear on the seats at all!
