Got offered £13500 for my 07 with 7k miles on it against a 55 plate 350z which was up for £15000. I was thinking more in the line of a straight swop!!

I bought my CTR GT about 6 weeks ago from my local Honda dealer. I may have rushed into it actually.
Managing a 2 door car with a small family is proving harder than we 1st thought, so we decided to go back to the dealer and see if they would be interested in taking back the car, hopefully swapping it for something else more practical....
The sales manager offered us a straight swap into an 07 Accord GT 2.2 diesel, worth £18000 or the crappy sum of £16500 cash.
When we tried to ask for a swap into an 07 CR-V that was £18000, he wanted £1500 cash from us as well! So he obviously wanted rid of the Accord more.

Me too - didn't want black but it was there, low miles, a reasonable deal, it was there, 20 min test drive, I could have it in 6 days against 3 months for new (did I mention it was there?)........

Damn my imulsiveness - I love it but the black paint is not for the win....

I got offered £12000 for a July 07 Silver CTR GT with SatNav, HFT, IPOD, Mats, Badges with 10,000m against an 07 BMW 330d M sport....i don't think the residuals of the FN2 are going to be as good as forecast with petrol and road tax price increases starting to pinch.

I had a 2.2 diesel before the type-r too. The type-r felt really slow during my initial test drive and I actually asked the salesman if ther was something wrong with it. Really miss the low down torque of the diesel.

I seem to remember overtaking more or less where and when i wanted in the diesel but in the type-r it takes so much planning and gear shifting I sometimes cant be bothered

I have the option to drive a 130 TDi or the CTR, if I want to go out on a sporty drive there is no hesitation in getting in the type R, and not just because of the handling [Bora is lowered on Eibachs & 17" rubber now and handles very well for a nose heavy oil burner].

Turbodiesel power is great fun, but ultimately short lived, and not really a challenge. Additionally the FN2 throttle response is infinately better.

But I may change my mind when I get it remapped in next few months

Lots of people say this these days and I've never understood it. When I was quite young my parents managed with two children, with a small 3 door fiesta for several years and it wasn't a problem. The Civic is a lot bigger with a huge boot compared to an 80's Fiesta. Unless you have more than two kids, which would make a Type R a strange choice in the first place seeing as it only has two seat belts in the rear!

Back on topic, I've not even thought about trading mine in but someone I know (who seems to want to change their car constantly!) got offered £18,000 for a Type R GT with Sat Nav that was just under a year old.

It was a strange choice, and one my wife and I pondered on. But in reality, with 3 month old bairn, and a 5 year old daughter it was too much hassle. We have another family car, but moving child seats from one car to the other was proving to be a pain. My CTR civic is wasted going to and from work, as we never use it at weekends. If both our children were a little older, it wouldn't be so much of an issue.

When I asked for a trade in of my Megane for a Honda I was offered "max 5000€", while the same model with the same milage and year was being sold at Renault for ~8500. Sold it privately instead and settled for 8000.
