My bonnet... It has a chip...

Erm..

Ive had the car for 1 week exactly now, and it has a chip mark on the bonnet, it happened on the 2nd day, so I go ask honda to fix it? or what? It also has super guard on it so it should protect the paint right??

What will you do?

Same with me, Danko. Day 3, and 2 stone chips on the bonnet directly above the red "H". Occupational hazard I suppose . I've bought a Honda touch up stick and will see if I can remedy it. If not, I'll wait 'till I get some more and will then get them professionally done. I'm no expert but the Super Guard (or similar; I have Gard-X) protects the paint work from the elements only. It wont stop stone chips or light scratches.

First little damages are the worst.
Scratched one of my alloys in the first week. That's even worse then a stone chip, since it's my own fault.

Depending on how big it is, I would touch it up with a color-stick. On black the light colored first coating is easy too spot.

ive got about 3 chips on my car, after 7 months and 4.5k miles, so not bad then? ive spent some time touching them up and to be honest **** would be hard pushed to see them.

just touch the chip in then t-cut it down to the level of the lacquer. the touch up paint is softer than your lacquer so you wont do any damage. just take your time, give the paint 10-15 min to dry, t-cut it and reaply if needed.

but make sure there are no waxes etc in the chip u want to fill or it wont take to well. when you have done, stand back and have alook, it will look 100% better, will not be perfect, but will save alot of money and if **** looks for the chip i bet they cannot see it.

give it afew weeks and i bet you even have to look twice to see it.

A touch up stick came with my car? It was in the glove compartment along with the manual.

I repaired 2 stone chips on the weekend 1 on my wing and 1 on my bonnet, then coming to work this morning some nice car in front shot a stone at my windscreen.

Now I have a chip right in front of me.

At the risk of being flamed.... why not just drive at a sensible distance away from the car in front? any stones kicked up will have landed on the ground again by the point the front of your car gets there....

nope - which is why there are so many posts and threads about it in here, and whether or not it's good value.

At 60 MPH you will be travelling around 88 feet per second. Now bearing in mined that a stone is normally flicked up and out towards you at high speed.

Allowing for the flight of the stone and your speed a safe distance would be, at a guess 250 feet plus. That equates to 20 car lengths of the average car. Unfortunately if you leave a large gap like that someone will overtake you and jump in closing the gap down again.

You can generally get this repaired FOC via your insurance company as it is in their interest not to have to replace the screen.

You cannot safeguard against stone chips from vehicles you are overtaking or vice versa no matter how far behind the vehicle in front you are. And don't bother with VentureShield paint protection film as it's crap - over priced, over hyped rubbish.

I went to the dealer today at Staffordshire to collect my foot mats, and while Im there I asked about the touch up paint, and they had 1 left so I bought it. They did say Honda paint has always been thin for the last few years (really do not know why..?!?) anyways on thursday I will get some fresh pictures of 'Before and After' with the touch up paint

Just on the off chance take it to your local dealer and ask them to check the paint thickness, it has been known for these cars to fall below hondas min requirments and you could get it re-sprayed under the warranty. Worth a try!! i didnt tell you this
