I can't believe what just happened to my precious CTR.
I was driving my cousins girlfriend home tonight, when I hit a huge pot-hole with a loud THUD! It was dark so I couldn't stop to check it out properly but when I got home I was relieved to find there seemed to be no damage to the bodywork. On closer inspection, I found that my right front & back tyre had a bulge about the size of half a ping-pong ball. The bulge was on the wall side of the tyres i.e. where the brand of the tyre is. Also, after the 'accident', the VSA warning light came up and wouldn't go away until I switched the car off and back on. This has me very concerned. I fear that I have not only damaged the tyres, but the mags within the tyre or some sort of VSA mechanism. I will try take my car in to the dealer tomorrow but I feel really, really upset. Stupid, piss-poor South African roads. BTW, does any one know why the VSA light might come on like this? And, maybe let me know if what I've described means that my mags are buggered inside the tyre? Thanks |

Oh no...
I really feel for you especially as its so new! I hope you get it sorted. Im not sure about the VSA light, it normally stays switched on if the VSA is turned off. When the car is switched on again, the VSA turns on by default. The buldges on the tires could be dangerous, get them checked as soon poss. Once again I really feel for you Bravo, hope you baby is ok. |

I had the tires (whoops, not tyres
Harps, you werre right Having heard that, I immediately ordered 2 new tires, only to find out that these tires are insanely expensive. My 255/40 R18 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A's are R4400.00 each which equates to about 300 British Pounds, EACH! I'll have to fork out 600 Pound after just 2 days of getting my car. Bummer I guess, but at least I'll learn to be more careful around these dodgy roads. I am so glad though that it was only tire damage and not mag/body damage. Expensive lessons aside, I still don't have my plates and these temporary mats are starting to really annoy me. They get stuck under the pedals and move around a lot. Anyway, here is another pretty cool pic of my car. ![]() Cheers. |

Blimey Bravo, you are not related to Topcat, of this parish are you.
That's the sort of luck she has. I hope you can find some rubber a bit cheaper and get your chariot back to full health. And a thought for the day, 'Mind out for pot holes' |

Howzit,
Got my license plates yesterday but this is the earliest I could post, I've been very busy at work Haven't been able to get tires changed yet, but at least I've had some more time to find cheaper ones. Here it is with its plates on... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Needless to say, I'm very pleased with them What do you guys think Cheers. |

Damn those plates are cool.
Don't tell me the serial number on your gearstick is 06660 or something. That would top it off Shame about that pothole hit though. Those Potenza's are expensive, but they do their job on the tarmac. Last edited by THX1138; 7th June 2007 at 16:56. |
