How cold is your air con????

Put my air con on over the weekend and noticed that’s it’s not actually that cold when I turn the AC off there is not much difference. Went into my girlfriends Renault Megane and her AC is so freezing cold she was even at laughing at my car because of it . After her 2 min of laughter I decided to bring her back down to reality by telling her she drives a 5 year old 5 door Megane and I drive 2007 type r, she wasn’t very happy .

Oh before you ask, yes I do know how to use the AC correctly.

just measured yesterday, my outcoming air is about 5 degrees celsius at lowest, then the antifreezing klixon comes on and shuts down the compressor for few seconds. i measured from the center vents, settings being on auto and temp = lo. pretty good compared what i have seen...

Mine was playing up last year - I took it to the dealer and they fixed it so it may be worth having yours looked at if you feel its not right.

Mine is bloody freezing, which is good 'cos it was baking in the sun. It seems to have a mind of its own when it's on auto though because it it silent and then whoosh, top blower

I have found that if the car is left in the sun to bake then leaving the aircon on auto does not do the trick like my last car used to.

It initially starts blowing icy air with a high fan speed but at about 5°C before it has reached the set temp it gives up and just blows a trickle which doesn't lower the temp any more.

By turning the temp down another 3 or 4 degrees gives it the message.

I found I had to select 18°C to achieve 22°C

When the car has been sitting in the shade and the interior temp is already around the selected temp it seems to handle it OK.

5° seems about right.

The Honda system test is quite complicated, but in essence:

Recirc on
All doors and bonnet open
No sunlight
No people in car
Temp "Lo" (fan full)
Engine at min 1500 rpm

Should give this result:

aircontemp.gif
