come one people someone must have tinted their windows. I would also like to see some pics, thinking of doing it soon to my FN2 but would like to see the results first, guessing it would cost around 150-200 to have it done but not sure.

I would go for the darkest tint available but only behind the B pillars, as It is illegal to have extra tint applied upfront of the B pillars. The Police and VOSA are having a Crackdown on modifications of this type and it is just not worth getting caught. If you do cause a crash, it will have a massive sway on any fine and/or sentance that you will recieve from the courts.

B pillars are the middle pillars in the car.

a-pillar are the front pillars on each side of the windscreen going from the bonnet to the roof.
b-pillars the middle ones between the doors (on a 5 door)
c-pillars the rear ones on each side of the boot lid

Looks good, but remember only the back doors and rear screen should be darkened. Any good Pro-Tint application company, will do the front doors under protest only. Ask what their Warranty covers. It should be at least 12 months for workmanship and the manufacturer of the film should cover at least 10 years for the product. Check with the company, that they will recover the costs of re-application from the film manufacturer, in the event of film breakdown. Most manufacturers such as 3M give 10 - 15 year Guarantees on both film and adhesive if fitted professionally.

Would anyone, be interested in a group buy? I'm getting some quotes at the mo for tinting my FN2 but I'm also asking if they are willing to give discount for a group buy of about 10 cars. It will be for anyone in the north west.
If anyones interseted let me know and I can get some quotes listed, and get a list of people going.

It looks cool, but a big No,No as far as Gtr Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, North Wales and Midlands Police are concerned. They can make you remove it at the roadside, or even Tow it away if they want!lurkcannon.gif

I have been having windows tinted all round for 20 years on all my cars, even the dealers will do it.As long as your not driving like a maniac and you can be seen (smoke tints) the police dont bother you.

Take a look at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/6707873.stm

The windscreen must allow 75% light through, and 70% for the front side windows.

You have to remember this is looking from the front so it will look darker than it is

I wanted full tints on the back windows and lighter on the front two but if that is going to cause a problem with the police then I think I'll just go for the back ones, but then I have second thoughts if it's worth just having the rears done?

I do like the idea of tints like scol78, and as said no problems with the police, but is it worth the risk?
