It was rumored yesterday, and it's real today. Come September 13, Japanese enthusiasts will be able to order up the hottest Civic Type R yet. The already-impressive R gets the full once-over from Mugen, and the result is the Honda Civic Mugen RR.
.....
Availability is limited to 300 cars, all in the Milan Red finish shown, and the pricing in Japan has been set at ¥4,777,500 ($38,750 USD).

Yes.
JDM CTR is saloon.
Our CTR is Europe only, IIRC.

I'm guessing not...
"the freer-breathing Mugen RR picks up 15 horsepower over the regular Type R. It's rated at 240 horses at 8,000 rpm and 160 lb-ft at 7,000 rpm."
which implies that the standard engine gives 225 horses - 25 more than our R

Bear in mind that the Japs use 100 RON fuel, or rather, have more access to it - as such, the ECU will be mapped accordingly to make full use of it.
As for 15 bhp with air intake, and exhaust changed to Mugen, inc. header, I'd have thought 20 would be nearer the mark.
With a limited run of 300 cars, you can bet the engine is the same - they'd not spend the money modifying it, but are probably hand-built blueprinted ones.
So in all likelihood, this is the same engine only highly fettled to pull those numbers out of it.

All comes down to what you mean by the "same" engine.
Some components may well have been changed.
Eg intake, exhaust.

Why?? Surely if you wanted a performance saloon you'd get an rs4 or something?

I have seen pictures (about week and a half ago) of a Type RR Hatch, with the racing air intake on the roof etc. I think that it was on Yahoo Cars! (Can't remember as I do so much surfing for Honda's these days!) That also had a figure of 300 production units!
Maybe they are planning 2 models, 1 for each of the markets!

You sure that wasn't the rally car done by the Italian company?
Homologation would require a quantity, and roof scoop sounds about right for a rally car.

It did look like the rally version, but non of the livery. The article was short of detail, but it did call it a Type-RR. You know what journalists are like, it may have been a photoshop recolour of the rally version! It did look good( The roof scoop does look impractical for the IMO car wash around the corner from me!) LOL

The fn2 and jap type r are different engines. The jap one uses tuned accord engine giving better power and torque.
They always have to go one better.
