i want to know as well, but the cheapest 19" tyres iv found are roughly 160 quid each, thats if you change the tyres apparently after 8000k, a good part of 600 u have to spend for nu rubber, cool huh?

I had this exact same dilemar which is why this whole post exists....to be honest I ended up going for rages...the main reason was that I love how they look ! and in my experiance with after sale alloys...from places like wheelmania I alway seem to buckle them....I think that may of been down to cheap tyres though....

The type r would have been fully road tested with rages....again antoher reason to stick with manufactor.....If your thinking after sales then try to get split rims...these are much stronger !

I wasn't going to bother about the Rages until the one sitting brand spank in the show room had them on....there was someone Type R outside with the 18's on and they just looked crap next to the Rage alloys. Then ehwn the dealer chucked them in for free.....well I couldn't refuse (I was actually gonna part with cash for them anyway, was just a brucy bonus!)

Word of warning that I got from my dealer (which has come true for me) ordering the Rage alloys may result in your order being delayed and guss what Honda dont have any at the moment so my car isn't even been built for 15th delivery as they have no wheels! GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

Judging by all the people getting rages for their R's.The standard wheels may start to look more exclusive.
I must admit I am in two minds about them, so sticking with the standard wheels for now. Part of me agrees with the "clown shoes" theory. As more type R's are delivered we will see how common they become.

There is a demand for them it would seem and I just don't think Hondas supplier can keep up. Either loads of folk are ordering them or they just dont make enough in the first place

Or maybe a bit of both

It was a problem which delayed a lot of early type Rs too

Honda seemed to get on top of it for a while, but it looks like they're running out again then

I think what makes me undecided is that, the less number of spokes a wheel has the more of the brake calliper and disc can be seen. So as the callipers get dirty and the edges of the discs get oxidised, as they inevitibly will, then it detracts from the look of the rest of the car. Obviously the caliper can be cleaned but the edges of disks will deteriorate no matter what you do to them.

Well i have had my Type R for just less than a week with rages on, I dont know what I was worried about, the ride isnt that stiff and they seem quite strong alloys...

my R was delayed buy a week though and it was due to a shortage of tyres and alloys, the car came with YOKOS and i was expecting Brigstones...not sure yet if this was a good thing or not...time will tell....

Why were you expecting different tyres? Thats the ones that they supply with all New Type R's. First thing I noticed about the wheels on the demo was the tyre make.
