why do you want to remove the resonator?
they help to fill the cylinders in the lower rpm range

Air filter

I was looking to get a replacement element , I don't believe in induction kits. Regarding resonator box's I thought they were there just to kill induction noise, so what your saying is they help give you more low down torque?

Thanks

I have already asked lot of lot of people (experts, non experts, everybody) about that.
So at normal cars the resonator is mainly reducing induction noise...
but as said mainly.. so there is some help in the low rpm filling also..
this ratio (noise/filling) is depending on the box how it looks like etc. etc.
after a lot of hesitation, thinking I just kept everyting original on all of my cars.

reasons: tha manufacturer tested it a lot, stock setup matches best to the ECU parameters, if you place a cool air intake (where the filter is in the engine bay) then the inducted air will be warmer than with the stock setup! (where the intake pipe is somwhere outside behind the front bumper)

If you open the OEM air box on most cars and remove the filter. Look and on the "Air In" side, you will see a little Lip or restrictor at the edge of the air entry pipe. if you remove this with a knife and then smooth the end with sandpaper or a Dremel, it improves air flow. I have done this on many Fords and Vauxhalls that I have owned and it does give a power gain, without causing engine problems. It only takes half an hour at most and costs nothing other than a little time. Its just allowing a better increased airflow. Sometimes it does increase intake noise a little, but not that much as too be annoying but it sounds quite sporty!

I've also been asking around about the resonator box...Being from SA the guys who work on Honda's say that we could remove it and run a straight pipe into the airbox which will give better airflow and it should increase the sound a little bit...They said that the resonator helps with removal of water from the air, but mostly for countries with heavy rain and by us we hardly get heavy rain...They've done it alot on the older civics in SA and it makes quiet a noticable difference...

Does anyone have any pix of how the resonator looks inside the bumper???
