Delayed again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went to the dealer today to make sure my car was coming 1st sept . To my surprize i was told its back to the 23rd Sept. I was raging & asked for my £1000 deposit back , the sales manager came out & was all apologetic. He told me they cant help it .He asked what he could do to stop me cancelling. Now were talking so now iam getting free ambient lights, free type r badge ,there fitting my 8 disc for free& removing & refitting my Parrot kit for free. They are desperate to get my cooper s so they will give a an Accord till my CTR SHOWS & INSURE IT.Now its not so bad.

Ohh man... the dealer can't do anything about a delay from Honda..... If I read your post you're really overreacted. It's fine that you now have some extra's for free....... but if I was that sales manager and I don't have to considering the money, I will have given it back.

I don't think he was over reacting, they had given him a delivery date of 1st September (it was ordered some while ago) I too would have been bloody pissed off it's not like it's been put back a couple of days but 3 weeks. To say they can't help may be true BUT they had a contract to deliver at the specified date and have broken the contract. they have offered the extras to keep the order that's all.

If I order a car and the dealer say to me that the car can be "expected" on a surtain date, it is not a contract, but information when they hope to deliver it. Do you think a dealer won't bother a delay? They will get the money when yhey can deliver the car. So every day will also cost them money. They order the car at Honda, and if Honda can't deliver on time it is not their fault. So thats why I said that I think illegalhunter is over reacting. I have waited almost 6 months for my Civic.... so I know what waiting is

I to think its a bit of over reaction but then its got them some free stuff. I kept quiet when mine was delayed for over a month( yes i know people have had theres delayed longer) but starting to feel i should of pushed for some freebies.

Delivery started at the 10th August ,then sept 1st .Its a buyers market if you dont ask you dont get,they offered. I just pushed it, they really want my S as they have a customer for it.

Sorry I dont think you over reacted at all now that i realise you were first told 10th August.

If the dealers are not sure when the car will be in then they should not promise dates.

I wanted to sell my previous car privately in order to get more money for it but i couldnt due to honda being so unreliable with there dates. In the end I had to part ex which i wasnt to happy about but didnt have much choice.

Not an overreaction, but I think Razor is right - delivery date doesnt specifically form part of the contract I dont think, the date they give you is always a guide. To be delayed like IH has though maybe more the dealer than they let on - they may have other (larger) orders the want to honour first and hence the nice freebies.

Whenever the dealer delays, ask for freebies - thats the way it is and they expect you to ask too...!
Free ambient lights - nice - the're the red ones in the CTR right?

i dont think so, we all get stiffed by the dealerss unless we try when we have delays im in the same boat and if my r goes back again ill be looking for some sort of incentive !

While delays are part of the process when you chose to buy a car that is so popular that they can't make them as fast as we buy them... don't feel sorry for the dealer.
1. They are the public front and representatives of Honda. Therefore if there is an issue they must resolve it. They can't wash there hands and say 'it's not our fault' that's the same as Honda Motor Europe pushing the blame away and saying it's the factory. They may all be different companies but to the public they are all one and the same.
2. These extra's have not really cost the dealer a lot of money - they are contributing the time mainly. The temporary car will come from HME - probably short term lease retrun stock.

So well done IH, we should all complain if we don't get good custoemr service.
Although they did delvier my bosses CRV last month - it arrived 6 weeks early!!!!

You shouldn't differentiate between the 2 - it is Honda doing the stiffing and the dealer is parts of that 'Honda'. They will take that line them selves.

When your washine machine is not delviered on time you don't complain to Hotpoint, you complain to Comet - regardless of the reason for the delay.
(Other makes and outlets are avaialble)

. And anyway, as I said they will share the cost between them.

When you’re spending £18,000+ on a car there is no over reacting. I placed my deposit down on my ctr in September 06 to secure a 1st March 07 date that’s 4 months before they were taking official deposits. A week before 1st March I was told I’ll have to wait a few weeks for my car. I went nuts because I knew people that ordered there car in January were going to get there car before me, I told the manager if I don't get my car on the due date that I will be taking my money back and buying a Golf GTI. Funny enough my car was in the show room 1st March 07.
