Question Standard Type R splitters.

Does anyone know how much the normal type r front and rear splitters that come as standard are to buy. i have gone for the type r kit on milano and they do look well. so i have the normal ones in a box and was wondering whether it was worth floggin em or keepin em in the garage for a back up. THEM DAMN BIG KERBS!

A front and back pair (in red) went for £15 each on fleabay last week

1 bid.

I'd keep hold of them if I were you, and then put em back on when (if!) you sell the R, and flog your nice ones for a bit more

Trouble is that they don't fit a 5D (without a fair bit of work), and don't look that much different to the standard ones on the S, so limited buyer appeal

yep

I was so tempted to bid on the ones on ebay, but I would have taken 3 pots of plastic filler, lots of skinned knuckles, and needed the exhaust trims

So in the end I didn't

Damn! Is it really that much work TTdegs? I'd have thought it was the shame shell up to the bumpers?

Unfortunately not

If you look carefully at where the bumper meets the wheel arch, you will see on the S&R that they 'flare' back out

tried to show where below...

So to fit the R bumpers, you also need the R wheelarches.
But to fit the R wheelarches, you also need the R side sills...

Dont Forget The Exhausts Are Also A Different Shape, So You Will Need The Back Section As Well?

yes I know.... hmm here in my country are almost same exhausts on both models....just rotate triangles on 5 door model if you put TS plastics....

but if you order splitters you just order and exhausts triangles (they aren't very expensive)

Could be different for you matey...

Click the image to open in full size.

Top is our 'S/R' triangles. Bottom is 5 door.

think we might be talking about different things on the last few posts...

Yes, the R standard splitters could well fit directly onto an S - they are both 3 door, and both have flared 'lips' at the bottom, so might well work

Haven't looked closely enough in the flesh to say quite how different the standard R splitter is to a S splitter though...

As to the exhausts:
The triangular trim is the same (or looks the same at least) on the S and R.
They are different to the 5 door.

BUT - they appear to be in about the same place as the 5 door - so gut feel says that you wouldn't need to add a new exhaust to the price of the conversion

@Whoopy - don't let me persuade you not to sell em!
It's just that I wouldn't - if you want to get shot of them, you go for it

Question

So then guys, if the whole front and rear bumpers on a 5 door were also changed to the S/R Type with the lower splitters, but will the bumper assemblies go on smoothly with out any filling issues etc.? Surley that part of the Civic shell is the same on all models?
But then again thats all getting too costly I suppose!
