Squeaks in the upper part of the dashboard

I don't know if it's due to the f***g roads in this country, but I discovered recently that the upper part of the dashboard (exactly above the rev counter ~ it's the plastc thing) makes an annoying squeak (like the one expanded polystyrene does) when going on bumpy roads.
If I hold it, it stops.
I tried movind this platic upper part when stationary and it's doing the same noise (I did it just to be sure that I know what is the cause

).

Anyone experienced this?
Any solutions ?

I had a similar sound that I thought was coming from the dashboard, but when I had a passenger in the car he had a good listen and by leaning forward decided the sound came from the roof area.
Took the car in and the mechanic came with me and also decided it was the roof area.
Some removal of the foam somewhere in the area where the roof lining and windscreen join has drastically reduced the problem.
So it must have been the sound reflecting off the windscreen and seeming to me as if it was in the dashboard area. Or it is just a different rattle/squeek fault!

Click on the 'Prefix' link at the top of the list of threads, and it will sort them into groups.

My dashboard was squeaking severly for the first couple of thousand. The noise has gone now. The rubbing plastic must have worn enough. I'm on around 4k now.

Had the same squeak on bad roads too. Mentioned it to the dealer during first service and yet gone...
