I was greeted with Millie sporting new shoes. Well she was sporting quite a bit extra from the last time I saw her.
PIAA Extreme White H1's PIAA Extreme White H7's PIAA Extreme White H11's Toyo Proxis TR-1's Bastuk De Cat and O2 Sensor Miltek Non Resonated Exhaust 350mm Brake Upgrade Kit EBC Ceramic Red Pads HKS Iridium Sparkplugs KW Variant 3 Coilovers 12500m Service 19" Rage allows done in CW. Front camber adjusters. ![]() That immediately put a smile on my face. ![]() ![]() The wheels in my opinion look smaller now. This may be a result of the lowering from the KW's and the optical illusion of the brakes upgrade, combined with the colour change, but I think they suit it spot on. others may disagree, but each to their own. ![]() The wheels look a little naked, so forewarned is forearmed, and with the help of Mook, I came up with this. ![]() I think it sets them off nicely. ![]() Additionally ABP, managed to balance the wheels with my request for all the weights to be behind the spokes only. This results in s few more weights being applied than normal as you have to vector the dynamic load to split the heavy point into several places basically you balance the wheel, then place it out of balance using weights where you want them, rather than placing weights where the heavy point naturally is, more time consuming but worth the time. I was itching to be out in her, but ABP were not going to let me off without paying , so duly settled up and jumped in. I had forgotten how to bloody start the car!, when my simpleton cells stopped working overtime, I fired her up to be awarded with a deep, no.....really deeeeeep grumble. I was sweating like a pedo in a nursary with the expectation of taking her for a spin. Ah, my mistake, in my enthusiasm, I had forgot the wife , I must thank her now for driving me over and picking me up, as she's not talking to me now, and this is the best form of communication going at present. Sorry dear!. As I roared off into utopia, Mrs Stella was still waiting to pull out of ABP and after 15 mins I was offered a quick lesson in puppeteering - well that's what it looked like to me, from the missus. So for the rest of the journey I had to settle for cruise control and the stereo. The car certainly felt better planted, The steering seemed slightly lighter, but more positive if that sounds right. The grip was cracking with the Toyo's, however i had just swapped from some yoko's that were trying to do an impression of a zebra, as there was braiding showing. ![]() The ride quality even though the suspension is harder, felt far better than the stock set up and was very precise. The brakes are awesome, virtually putting me through the screen on the first application. Anyhow, I utilised the 150 mile return to bed the discs and pads in. So back home happy and skint. ![]() |

Cheers fella's, Just thought i would bung it up, as ABP were really helpful. This has been in the planning for 4 months, yet ABP were very patient with me as they tried different setups on their own car, prior to me deciding which to go for. If only we could have got the stoptech kit to fit, but it won't - unless I wanted to sacrifice steering!
I have a RR planned after I have the Hondata, LSD, Toda Cltch kit. I'm hoping for about 230 with the work, but awaiting the nod on the turbo, that is planned. That's a different kettle of fish. Last edited by -=Stella Artois=-; 25th March 2008 at 16:39. |

Stella , your car is fantastic
Have you had the car dyno'd to see what improvement has been gained ? Do you know if ABP do a suspension upgrade that doesn't lower the car ?(you mentioned they have tested various set ups) |

The Miltek is great. A little noisy between the 3500 - 4000 rev range, but I can live with that. The Miltek on its own doesn't provide the popping on overun that the VXR would have but then that is more than likely from the Turbo, than the exhaust. It does pop and fart with the decat fitted in addition to. Quote:
The KW3 variant fitted to mine, can be set up so that the ride height remains standard. I had it set up to JTunes Time Attack car settings, so its a little lower on the rear. Quote:

Catalytic convertors are mandatory on cars from 1990, however the cats are required when an MOT/TUV is being carried out. The running of a car without a catalytic convertor within the UK is legal provided it passes a road side emissions test if pulled by the police. The cost was £100 GBP. However, I believe that this was a one off, in the UK, but Bastuk. ( BASTUCK & Co GmbH - Edel.Stahl.Stark. - Germany/France :: Startseite ) can privide all sorts of variants for the FN2. Hope that helps. |

Yes, the cost was quite high, however if you break down the actual work done and the amount of work, its doesn't seem that bad. Additionally what people don't immediately see in the costing is that you pay for the facilities that the majority of people do not have access to at home. Technically, the work content, I could have done myself, but its like fitting a kitchen - Why have the house in uproar for weeks on end when someone experienced can complete it in a fraction of the time and to a higher standard. There are some elements that people could argue that I had "paid through the nose" for like ABP fitted the bulbs and I was charged labour for that, but I needed the minimum down time of the vehicle, so realistically, a job that I could have done over a couple of nights would have added to the car being off the road. The actual costings - available from ABP's magazine, so not breaking any confidentiality issues here were.
KW 3 Coilover set. £949.00 Bastuck De Cat £100.00 inc O2 sensor - One off, from their trials. Brake upgrade £375.00 Pads £65 - £20 cheaper than Honda OEM parts. Wheels - refurb and colour change inc centres - £360 Honda oil filter - £10.50 Motul oil - £37.50 HKS Iridium spark plugs - £68.48 Bulbs - £151.00 Front Camber adjusting arms - £35.00 Labour - £560 Labour consisting of: removing old suspension and brakes and fitting new set + camber adjusting arms. This entailed removing a large amount of trim, underneath, inside engine bay, boot, just to get at it. Setting up the geometry of the suspension, fitting the pads. Carrying out a 12500ml service, replacing the bulbs, (L/H) side are a right pain to get to and then the fogs - whoever designed in the requirement to have to drop the bumper to change a set of bulbs needs shooting! so all in close to £3300. and I'm loving every minute of it. Not even started on power enhancements yet! |
