FN2 Accessories

I've got a £100 voucher to spend on accessories for my CTR GT with nav

Clearly, i'll need to add a bit to it to get anything off the list other than mud guards, so am thinking of the following...

Does anyone have these fitted and could I have an honest review please?

1) Red Ambient Footwell lights

2) iPod connector (as much detail as poss please, i cant find any info on this anywhere)

3) Type-R emblum and side stickers

Thanks guys...

Ambient lighting without a doubt! As a work colleague said "I never realised how nice it is to be able to check on the state of my feet in a car when it's dark!" It never ceases to wow people...

Forget Honda's i-pod link; much better and cheaper to buy a Griffin or Monster transmitter from the web...

Have done a search or looked at the Wiki? There is lots of info on the ipod connector, basically it's not worth the money as flossy said!

Do a search for 'Blue Ambient Lighting' (all non CTR Civ's have blue lights!), same system just different colour bulbs. Again, you might be able to save money by installing yourself (See 'How to' section).

Hope this helps

I've got the Honda iPod link, my car is an ex-demo and it was pre-fitted. Personally I use it quite a lot, but it's very limited for something that costs so much. Basically it fools the stereo into thinking you have a 9-disc CD changer installed.

Discs 1 - 7 are your own playlists and can have up to 99 tracks. Annoyingly, the playlists have to be called Honda1, Honda2, Honda3, etc to be recognised.

Disc 8 plays all the music on your iPod in a random order.

Disc 9 is whatever was playing on the iPod when you plugged it into the car connector (be it a single track, album or playlist). I use the Disc 9 function more than anything else for the obvious reason that it's the only way I can choose what to listen to while on the move, but it's far from perfect. For a start, as soon as you plug the iPod in, the Honda logo shows on the screen and the controls lock up, so to change album/playlist you have to unplug the iPod, change the music, then plug it back in. Also, if whilst using Disc 9 you select one of the other discs, it forgets whatever you were listening to on Disc 9, so you can't just flip back to it.

On the upside, at least it's a way (allbeit a rather limited one) of hooking your iPod up to the car stereo and controlling it from the steering wheel.

I have the iPod lead fitted and wouldnt use anything else, hard wiring is 10 times better than radio transmission after market.
I have the front badge and side stickers too but bought those from Holdcroft who use this forum £57 delivered and fitted them myself so that dosent help you with your voucher.
As for ambient lighting, Hondas is a rip off I saw 4 led and wiring in red in Halfords for £4.99 just buy 2 one either side and wire into glove box light, hope their pricing is right as Im going in soon to get them myself

Does the lead charge the ipod while fitted?

Also, what's involved in fitting the badge and stickers? They have 1h labour charge for it at my dealer!

I´d go for 1).

In fact I did.
Except mine are blue.
But I spent money on that instead of i-pod connector.

Yes the lead charges iPod but not over charge as some say it has a cut off think its in the iPod mine has been fine used it for about a year as had it in my previous EX.
They do say you have to take the bumper off to fit the front badge.......load of crap.....unless you have big hands and wrists that is.
I took top cover off, dont worry youll break a couple of the badly made clips as I did but only 2 and they can be replaced you might be luckier.
Then loosen the 2 10mm bolts on the grill and ease out of retaining clips careful not to far, then gritted my teeth, push on clips in left hand (make sure you dont drop them) badge in right and pushed them on, firming them up with a small screw driver as they just push on and bite into the plastic of the badge ...........side stickers are shaped one end to match body contours but be carefull once they stick........they stick, so practise without peeling first ............and take your time.... hope this helps, ask away if you need to

I think i'll do the lights and badges myself then. It'll save 2.5h labour!

Does anyone know if the items come with fitting instructions if bought without the labour?

Although the ipod connector isn't perfect the sound quality is much better compared to using an itrip or other fm radio device. As a side note if you do use the ipod connector i find saving the play lists onto your ipod with a higher bass level improves the sound quality in the car.

Agreed. I'm satisfied enough with mine that if I ever trade up to a Type-R myself, I'd get it again.

They only come on when opening the doors, and then only for a certain period of time, but it is long enough. In fact front doors I think, but havent tested.

I WAS WRONG!

They come on when opening any doors OR when the lights are on, either due to manual switch on or light sensor switched on.

However, if the lights are auto on during the day on a DRL car they appear to be off.
