fault

looking at bugs section all day and it seems the normal civics has plenty, can people who own the ctr just briefly state any issues (common) that I should know about, please note this is for the type r only, not the normal civic, this isnt to slag the car off, Iv ordered one already, its just for me to be aware of the problems so I can sort them out promptly, cheers guys...and girls if any

You can filter on Type-R. Question 2.

Many parts are similair between the models, but some not.
The 3rd gear issue is unique to the Type-R.

with the various know faults in mind, when we have our cars deliverd should we take the to our local honda garage and have any recalls checked?
i ask cos ive orderd mine online so it will be deliverd to my door and may never see a honda garage.

it will be a 57 so i assume any known faults will be sorted when its made?

cheers, sorry to hijack thread but i guess its inline with the thread.

Even though it's an online order, it will most likely come from a garage somewhere.

And FWH has it right, if you do the filter on the survey you'll see that it's just paint and the third gear problem that are the only significant faults.

Maybe nearer £3000.

The paint doesn't cost much, but there's a vast amount of labour stripping all the bits of the car, preparing the surface, applying layers in a very controlled environment, reassembling the car and finishing.

There's no need to do it though. Only the bonnet and bumper will need it, if you're fussy. Even then I wouldn't bother - my car is looking OK at 27,000 miles, and as a medium cost hatchback I don't expect it to look like an Aston forever...

jesus I'll be lucky for it to be worth that much after a few years, some guys trying to sell his 2nd hand ctr for 500 quid less than the OTR price.

Exactly.

One idea would be to drive to a CEE country with lower labour rates and have it done there. I know people who have done this for repair and servicing and the cost is much lower even at official dealers for labour intense operations.

But further from the UK than from my part of the world though.

paint is water based and is therefore extreamly soft, ie crap in resisting stone chips
