FN2 clutch vibration

I have noticed recently on my FN2 R-Type - that at the top of the pedal travel in any gear - a vibration playing through the pedal.
Noticeable when you are resting your foot on the pedal or just about to come on or off the pedal - its quite strong and im sure it hasnt been there before ...anyone with any ideas ?

Thanks

Mo

Hmmm - I doubt it's much to worry about, especially if you can only feel it when you are on the pedal. But it's worth pointing out that resting your foot on the clutch pedal will very quickly wear out your thrust bearing, which will then cause vibrations (and stop your cruise control from working, if fitted).

Use the sodding foot rest!! That's what it's there for, and then what Pottsy said in bold, just to reiterate resting your foot on the clutch pedal will very quickly wear out your thrust bearing

Nice attitude though.

Politely please, folks!

Mo, when you feel the vibration with your foot, does it vary with engine load, or engine speed, or vehicle speed (or a combination)?

Can you feel a strange vibration anywhere else, like the gearstick or steering wheel?

Erm not really the gearstick if i rest my fingers on the shaft doesnt feel abnormally too much vibration...

As for the the symptoms - defo its a combination - sometimes as you depress to change gear you can really feel it other times not so much.

Pulling away at low revs sometimes
sometimes when upshifting normal speed

the hard thing is trying to remember if i felt it before and ignored it

If it's when pulling away and upshifting, then it sounds like it's coming when the clutch is slipping. So that is most likely to be uneven wear on the friction material (should go after a bit) or something more serious like a broken or bent spring or plate. Does it grab?

If it's really abnormal, a trip to the dealer could be in order.

I would definately take this back to the dealers but its probaly not urgent. It does sound like a slightly warped friction plate which disappears when it gets squeezed between the flywheel and pressure plate. It could also be a faulty spigot bearing/bush if the Civic has one. The outcome would probably be faster wear on your clutch but more anoyingly the feel through your foot which kinda spoils the driving experience

Good luck mate
