Nice thread! So you guys at TDIN are not going to have an issue fitting my JRSC with a little modding. I wouldn't trust it with anyone else anyway so you don't get a choice! :P

I agree the rotrex is a better charger BUT I think rotrex is better suited to track use as mid-range isn't anywhere near as good as the JRSC/CT

None of them will match my NA build tho

Build quality and appearance under the bonnet really puts my off the Rotrex, even though it might be the best.

Can you get intercoolers for the CT / JRSC?

We've seen intake manifolds crack with JR but not on CT. We've also seen JR superchargers leak (2 in the last week!) but that's an Eaton quality control issue that could also affect CT.

As Paul said, both CT and JR have a serious design flaw in that the intake temperature sensor is in the wrong place. The ECU needs to know what the intake charge air temperature is - not the ambient air temperature. Having the sensor in the wrong place affects performance and engine reliability.

Build quality ?? Nothing wrong with the build quality of it ! It looks quality under the bonnet IMO I would say that though ImageUploadedByTapatalk1339920517.901965.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1339920543.170150.jpg

Eco display
I had some issues with the build quality on some parts of my Rotrex and I know of one other person who's had a mare with his on an EP3.

That being said two people isn't exactly a large number and they were/are both being supported by TTS so you can't complain too much.

It's the nature of modifying cars, you are essentially fitting race parts to a road car. Along the way you hope to keep the reliability as you go but sometimes that doesn't happen, but a majority of the time it does.

Yes you can, check out merc racing, got a facebook page and website. inlets, aftercoolers and smaller pulleys all available for both CT and JRSC

This thread is a bit biased as the commercial users posting are CT resellers.

Intake manifolds crack due to poor installation. Fit the support bracket properly and they won't crack

The JRSC runs at lower boost as the CT comes with a smaller pulley, fit the same size pulley and your have the same boost.

Both have readily available intercoolers from third parties if you want loads of boost.

So basically.. Rotrex for a track car
Eaton based charger for the road ..
One eaton requires some modification, the other bolts on (so to speak). But is it really worth the increased price!

The "problem" with the IAT sensor could potentially be solved by fitting an aftercooler. But the potential for a boost leak would be increased.

Also would a thermal gasket fitted to the chargers inlet help a little bit with temps?

Wrong.

I tried to point this out. We are re-sellers for all available systems. Rotrex, CT AND Jackson Racing.
I have sold and fitted 3 Jackson kits in the last 3 weeks! We also sell the Vortex and HKS systems.

We are not just tied into 1 product as an "agent" for them so you are more likely to get an un-biased opinion from us having supplied and fitted ALL systems rather than just 1.

Please think about what you say before jumping on your hourse to defend your chosen option and try and detract from information given by people in the know. We are just trying to give a balanced argument to the OP's question and other points being raised.

To be fair though ash, the question was which is better. With a straight fit and stage 3 pulley that comes with the kit and straight away having 10psi of boost its just answering dave's question by saying which is better. Doesnt matter who say's it or who they work for, it is better which is why it costs more. No secret there, 95% of posts in this thread have been from people that arnt tdi and dont have a supercharger. Hardly biased. Helping someone making a decision has nothing to do with rivalry, or who sells what.

Im not the type to recommend something as the 'best' just coz ive had it fitted. I go by people's experiences, knowledge and stats. Like i wouldnt recommend the CT over the rotrex coz the rotrex is better imo

I can see where ash is coming from though is a kit supplied with a smaller pulley and slightly different manifold worth the extra 1-2k as in essence it is the same bit of kit?

So that would make the jrsc better value for money even with the purchase of a smaller pulley.

Now for someone that wants a pure bolt on and more power the ct would be the option out of eaton chargers.

I think all options will have their issues. It's just personal preference if you want to pay more and have slightly less but different problems
