I done the course when I bought my 2002 ctr but was not offered it when I bought the new one. Its not a track day as such. More an advanced driving course on moterways, country lanes etc,to give you better awareness and better car control.
My instructor was an ex police driving instructor which felt strange when he was thrashing my car on public roads then instructing me on how to do the same. Even telling me to over take cars at every opportunity and take a straighter line through round abouts to carry more speed. He was a good laugh. It was a good day, done alot of driving and learnt some good stuff. |

It looks like a good scheme, but there was no mention of it when I ordered my CTR. Is it arranged thru the dealer or direct with Mac ?

I did a post about this a few months ago when I bought my CTR because when I put the deposit down on my car last November the dealer told me I was entitled to a free Mac driving day. A few weeks after I bought my car I remembered and went back to the dealer. I spoke to the manager and he told me the Mac driving day was for the old CTR and that no sachems have been done for the new CTR as of yet.

I done the Mac in 2002, one of the most worthwhile courses i have ever been on. I done it in scotland with an ex bike cop, called Ron Todd.
It opens your total awareness of the road and how the car should be driven. You dont hang about either, its not a poodle around the streets at 30mph, its motorway, A/B roads, overtaking, high speed cornering. Do it, you wont regret it DC5 |

Get onto Honda UK 08452008000. Dont see what the difference should be from the old model to new model, after all its basically the same car, same power output. They used to do it for motorcyclists too(may still do), its an expensive course if you had to pay for it yourself, think it was around the £300 mark. When i got my first CTR i was given the brouchure for the MAC course, with a contact number direct for my instructor. So i would contact HUK on the above number and get it straight from the horses mouth, honda dealerships sometimes dont know there ar$e from there elbow, and sometimes they aint well informed, fact?? I had the Honda Mac training a few years back for - business insurance reasons. The guy was Chris Ellis I think, ex Police driving instructor, excellent chap. Really excellent course. Even my family noticed a change in my driving after. Would highly recomend it to anyone who has the chance.
I seems to remmeber Chris's catch phrase was 'Make Progress'. As Frosty say's very bizare to have an ex cop tell you to put your foot down and take different lines round a corner to give the best overtaking view etc!! It's really about enjoying your R in a safe way not just being safe. |
