Thanks for the Good idea of using the seat belts to hold the seats up.
thought about the small sub under the rear seat. realised that I can't do it, because when you fold the backrests down, the seat itself sinks to the floor =(

errr... does in mine. maybe im not explaining it right.. folding the seats down causes it to sink into the floor to create a flat loading area/boot space.

no - my oops (sorry ) - I didn't finish what I was typing before hitting reply

What I meant to say is that it doesn't go all the way to the floor - there is about an inch or so gap - which might be enough to fit a thin amp unit in?

Apols for the confusion - I should really stop trying to post replies in here and do my day job at the same time!

The plan is to fix the sub with velcro or something similar (very securely). On the odd occassion that that I want to put the seats down all I have to do is unplug and remove the sub.

Good idea. How about those straps like the ones in your boot that hold your locking wheel nuts you'd just have to unclip them then, possibly a more secure alternative to velcro???

Tom

I thought velcro would be fairly secure. If it is secure enough to attach knee sliders, it should do for the small sub - see link below:

Motrax - MOTRAX VELCRO PATCH STICKY BACK (PAIR)

Straps would probably also do the job as you suggest

The sub is still in the planning stage, and I may not do it as I am very happy with the speaker upgrade already.

We used to have our 6 disc changer mounted on a board then velcor straight to the carpet, under the driver seat in our clio!! Always held securely!! In fact we have still got it in the spare room, went up the other day to find it stuff firmly to the carpet as it was on the floor - nearly lifted the carpet as i ripped it off!!! lol

Why?

Economies of scale and marketing

The seats are virtually the same due to economies of scale. Is cheaper to have one set of seats for the 5 door and the three door. Then at some point the marketing men came along and said cant have full magic seats thats the trick of the 5 door. Then the bean counters came along and thought as long as the seats aren't being folded up, no need for this bit of trim here.

This is good news. The reasons for getting an FN2 CTR GT are stacking up.

And agree on the dog front. good that the bases can lift up
