Not without seriously costly custom building.

The Civic doesn't need a wiper so long as it starts raining when you're on the move. As soon as you get stuck in traffic though, it's fair to say that quite a few owners would prefer one onboard.

No doubt our resident expert will chip in later to add some weight to the argument. And who knows, if the rumours are true, the Civic might be getting one anyway!

Also, similairly, I find that when starting off and the rear window is wet from rain it would be handy with a wiper.
Not an enourmous problem, but still...

Test drove the type r for 3 days - it rained. This is not a problem at all. The rain just doesn't bother you.

It is no biggie - really.
Even though I have a non-R which is slightly better than the R on this point.

You learn to live with it and the mirrors are really good.
Don´t decide against the car on that point alone.
But why not get the parking sensors - I did.

Just been driving a MB Vito.
Compared to that rear vision in the Civic is great!

Having had mine for a week, I have changed my mind and agree with you - the novel Honda design does work and looks good. The spoiler is perfectly positioned for blocking out dazzling headlights from behind and there is more than adequate visibility to the rear with the large wing mirrors and central rear view mirror. I have never reached for the missing rear wiper button either, despite the wet weather.

I'm just about to rain-x my rear window - which should allow the rain to just run straight off. I'd like a rear wiper but it's a small thing that's missing from an otherwise cracking car. We've also got a Mini GP Works which hasn't got the rear wiper and to be fair the Mini's do need one because of the fact that the rear window gets layered with spray - the Civic is lot better however. I also found that putting the rear demister on helps... Don't know why but the window does clear the water faster...

@andylinney: I have done rain-x on civic windows and it's really great driving on rain and drops just go off without wipers and especially on motorways or freeways....

@Vladd: do you have more pics with that spoiler on car?.....this looks good but not my taste.....I like this one better.... c/p from german forum (both spoilers can be ordered from http://www.tss-tuning.de or from manifacturer colour coded http://www.pakfeifer.at/)
