Anyone tried 16" steelies and winter tyres?

Just ordered a set of steelies and Nokians for winter. Anyone done this? Wonder if it will reduce the harsh ride a bit...

Compared to what? 16's,17's,18's,19's.
I ha the wheels on my old car painted and brought some steelies while the roads where covered in salt.
Completely ruined the car tbh.
Made it wallow around, bounce, wheel spun everywhere and the grip was poor as the tyres where much thinner.

But my painted wheels where 100% perfect after the winter and i re fitted them in the summer.so the steelies did the job.
They where 18alloys to 16steelies.

I have 16" steel rims with winter tires and the ride is much better ....you will notice in the spring when you change back to 17"/18"

Going from the standard 18s to the 16s for the winter. I guess there is bound to be some compromise, but hoping the winter tyres will replace the grip lost by narrowing down from the summer tyres.

Grip is actually more over rough surfaces as you bounce around much less.

In Scandinavia, 16" winter shoes are standard on the Civic - Conti Vikings are very good
