If the car is ok and its what you want at the right price then it does not matter if hes had it 5 years or a week.
Unless he's bought it, found loads of things wrong with it and is trying to get rid of it, using the excuse of it not being suitable!

When spending thousands of well earned pounds, any doubt would put me off, especially when there are loads out there to choose from!

That's possible but as I said check the car properly or get a good mechanic to check it. A car can have problems wether somebody has owned it 5 years or a week. If the car is properly inspected and is in sound condition then the length of time the owner has had it is irrelevant.

the problem is simple, the car is a 120 miles away so not just round the corner and the guy says he has owned loads of Honda's inc S2000 but this is not really for him and he also has a baby due in February so need this gone and the fact he does not really use it.

Now all this seem fine and reasonable until you know he had only owned the car exactly 1 month yesterday (so he decided to sell after 2-3weeks), problem then is if he has had loads of Honda's like he says then surly he would know about the hard ride and he must have known 4 weeks ago when he purchased the car he only does around 50miles per week (or so he claims) and that he had a baby due in 4 months so why did he buy the car knowing all this especially if this is the reason why he is selling it? On top of that he also claims the car was purchased of a family member so surly he would have drove the car if this was the case so would have known if it was for him and not just a 5minute test drive.

It does not add up and I was with Ian when he had him on speaker phone so I heard the call and what was said and its a long way to go to kick tyres hence why he has tried to find out if anyone knows the car with this thread.

that is what we thought problem was price agreed, car, pictures and everything is what Ian wants and in budget hence why we tried to find some history about the car to see if it would be worth a comprehensive HPI check (the ones with insurance but not cheap) and then a day out to look at the car and possibly buy depending on what we found.

I have to say when Ian wanted the EP2 we drove all the way to liverpool to look at a so called minter and all I will say is every panel on the car had been knocked, when we asked about the crease in the bonnet she said oh that was from a football but needless to say we wasted half a tank of fuel and half a day to look at a banger.

its says full honda service history, how many services has it had....id ring dealers to confirm all mileages/dates/work carried out....2 ends of the spectrum, let`s say she`s had 2 services 12500 & 25000,she`d be due for one now(if he didnt buy from a decent garage that serviced before sale)...could be a risk, but let`s say she`s been serviced every year and he has the fully documented hardcopy`s for proof,if its always been with the stealer then all recall`s should have been done and 3rd gear syncro issue`s were more likely to have been sorted.
id get the mot ref no and look online at the mot history(and where mot`d),basically if it`s been serviced n mot`d every year at stealer`s and record`s match, and it hasnt had 10 owners,id consider it.He also said he`d put new tyre`s on...what brand were they, you can tell a fair bit about someone`s commitment to their pride n joy by their choice of rubber...
good luck mate

It's a tricky one. Personally I've told myself I'd never travel too far to look at cars in the future. I've done hundreds of miles chasing cars that look "mint" in the pics only to turn up and look at piles of ***** that people haven't respected at all. There's always the next one around the corner if you decide to give it a miss

if you ask all the right questions before you go look at it then you will no if its genuine or not.

people that are vague with there answers, miss out answering on some of your questions or tell you the car is spotless with not a mark on it then they are lying, all second hand cars have minor chips etc even the best condtion ones out there so if they lie about that what else are they lying about

Car is advertised as genuine Honda fsh what we now know thanks to a call to Honda this the car was last serviced by a honda dealer in march 2010 so either its has not been serviced for nearly 3 years or it does not have a full honda service history as advertised.

More cracks in the story and was a shame as ian was hoping to look at a local one saturday advertised on here but the guy txt him today to say changed his mind about selling and sorry.

ah.....id lay money that march 2010 was the last service the car had(interesting to see what the dealer said milage was for that service),also where did he buy it from a month ago?....could get the mot ref number to see more history,as other`s have said,if he`s local then worth a look, but 120 mile round trip, nah, walk away would be my advice

Looks good. He's being honest with stone chips and kerbing which is a good sign. Also its obviously been looked after with extended warranty. All history at same dealer so you can check anything with them. If you can get it for 7k then your in for a good deal.

Silver FN2 GT bought and I am sure Ian will add some pictures when he has cleaned this up, what I will say is it is amazing how rude a lot of sellers are and then they wonder why they cant sell their car we even had people put the phone down on us Friday night and then not answer when we call back (was looking to go and view this morning) but then call you back Saturday lunch asking if your coming to look at the car. What can I say I am very black and white so my reply was the same as we received and I put the phone down

Paul he has one look above, Silver 07 FN2 GT with 50k and a decent price from a dealer. The car to be fair is very tidy but how can I put this just needs a service (was done at 44k Honda dealer) and some TLC in the detailing department and a small car park dent for the dent guy on the door, other than that a couple of trim clips you know the usual you find missing on a 6 year old car but on the plus side all original and still even has pots all round fitted so its obvious the last owner did not skimp on what the car needed.
