Sounds like a very good idea!

I prefer the total black out, but thought I'd mess with it a bit

not sure how well paint will stick to clingfilm

(just a technical aside there, sorry!)

Didn't think it would be much different to plastic chrome?

might work - but I know that my wife often wraps her brushes in cling film when she finally gives up painting for the night, but has some left to do.
(This usually occurs at about 5am cos she's stubborn like that and won't give in until she can;t see straight any more )

night morning (usually about 8am) she just unwraps the brush and carries on - the cling film has paint on it, but not a lot.

That's generally gloss or matt emulsion though - dunno if car plastic paint might stick better

I like the efforts here, still think the full crystal chromey silvery standard effect would look great though.

If I can pick up a grill cheap, i.e. anyone on here wanting to get rid of one after a type R conversion.

I'm gonna give it a go in NHB.

I used to help by pointing out the bits she'd missed - but for some reason she didn't appreciate that!

In bed - at 5am? have you seen the times I post in this place?

cheers for the comments guys,i paid 9.99 for it off the bay all thanks to ttdegs who spotted it for me,so it was going to be a cheap experiment however it turned out.
i still think the type r grille looks meaner but i like to be different and this is going to stay on the car for a few weeks until i pull it off and go for option 2 mod to it.
as for dismantiling it be very careful with the outer clips i snapped about 5 of them off, then just pull apart the two sealed items.
putting back together the sealent helped to bond it all together again.

glad i have inspired a few minds thats what modding is all about, may suit you,may suit someone else.

Well I finally found time to strip the grille down to its parts ready for painting. I only broke 3 clips doing it too (very powerfull heater on the clips before un-doing).
Hopefully if the weather holds off this weekend I will be able to get some painting done as I have pretty much sanded the chrome enough for the primer to bond properly... I hope.

So all things being equal I hope to find to time to get this done and fitted within a week or so (amongst Christmas shopping etc)
