Fifth Gears review on their website wasn't that great, they call the car dull. Personally I like my current model, its alot more modern looking and better looking.

Quite a good review and positive. They make a good point about the handling and drive being less engaging, but Honda are pitching the 9th Gen as a family/motorway cruiser and not a performance/sports car.

it seems to me like in every way 9 gen is better but for dynamics, which were compromised by efficiency as regards petrol. Most likely I won't be able to get a 2.2, still I think that the 1.6 with its 120 bph and 300 Nm may be a good alternative to 1.8 petrol with 140 bph and 174 Nm. Depends if this 1.6 has any improvment potential.

Won't be getting it till March 2013. Plenty of time for the initial bugs to be ironed out. Need to see the differences between the T grade SatNav and the EX SatNav. If it's just that the EX needs the HDD for the DVD input and they are both basically the same unit then fine - I'll be looking at a ES-T. |

Have you guys seen tonight's fifth gear?
Jonny sums it up like this : " My advice is to go and buy a Honda Civic, but one from 2011 " That sums it up well! |

I think the bottom line was that he didn't like it, but, he was a younger driver looking for thrills.
Honda seem to have aimed the Civic more back to it's traditional owners who want comfort over handling and I think they may have nearly succeeded. I wonder what the percentage of models sold is? I wonder if the "R" or even the 3 door is only a small percentage of overall sales so aren't too bothered? |

They did realise thr old dash has the speedo above the rev counter didn't they? Emissions got criticised? Why? The diesel is now down to 110 g / mile with 140+ bhp - thats one of the best out there. Numpties. |

As for emissions, they wanted a car less than 100g for free tax, that was the criticism although from memory in the same breath they also wanted more performance. I think Honda need to realise the only way forward is performance hybrids as quite clearly the demands of many of us and of the journalists are for powerful cars but clean cars. Maybe Honda should rethink the 1.6 turbos design in favour of a hybrid so they can get below the 100g mark but get power up to maybe 170-180 bhp or more with electric assist. Big problem though is here to put the batteries without losing the award winning boot space. |

they should either go for a really good looking hybrid where u dont expect power but you get a economical car thats easy on the eye, or a car that competes with the big guns and is fun to drive. the 9th gen has neither of those, and your looking at 20+ grand. epic fail

The hybrid is available. They can simply import the Jap/US models like they did for the previous two Civics. Trouble is Honda's IMA system doesn't make a convincing case for itself against Diesel competition in Europe.
The 1.6 diesel will almost certainly be sub 100 Co2. |
