Are you boasting about having had to buy the aforementioned, or complaining? You certainly set your aspirations below the parapet - Invest in a copy of 'Which' magazine and make an educated choice next time.
Sorry, couldn't resist, but you make yourself a sitting duck.

Eddie, yes the guy with the Volkswagen Jetta, all inclusive big boy's car, Baseball caps not necessary.

Eddie

Perhaps you should read the aforementioned magazine - also has a review of the Jetta as well. Good job you don't need to buy a baseball cap to drive one as you will need to save your money to cover the extra depreciation

Eddie, yes the guy with the Volkswagen Jetta, all inclusive 3) big boy's car, 4) Baseball caps not necessary.
1) Why SHOULD Honda have provided a spare wheel ?? doesn't say so in any of the brochures or sales literature that one will be supplied.

2) Never had a problem with the fog lights, No more so than the Jettas which are also on the floor in comparison.

3) I assume you meant to type Old mans car rather than Big???

4) Of course they aren't - because you need a flat cap with your Jetta.

How are the residuals going with your Jetta anyway????

side note:

at least with the Civic you have the option of buying the spare wheel if you want to.

On my TT (3.2) they moved the battery to the boot for better weight distrubution, which meant there was nowhere to put a spare...

Actually, I use Firefox. This wasn't exactly a pop-up as the word implies. It developed slower than a pop-up and sometime later disappeared. Don't know the exact name for that, if there exists one..

By now I've rolled nearly half a million km without needing one (touch wood). Which cannot be said about bonnets, roofs, bumpers, wings and two whole cars.

Hello again Jazzman,
It's nothing personal in my correspondence course with you. I just wish Honda had beefed up the quality feel of the Civic, because as I have said already, it's a great and original concept of a car with nothing out there as advanced in design. You must admit, it needs sound insulation, the cheap plastic dash would scratch if a fly landed on it, the black upholstery and door armrest in mine had faded since last May, etc, etc. It just ain't sturdy enough to last more than a very few years. Do you know the whole back door hatch is plastic except for the heated rear window section.
I wish you well in yours and I know every make has it's faults, but if it rattles and shakes when new, it has been badly screwed together.
There is talk of a Mk2 in the pipeline - I bet they beef it up and fit a rear wiper. Until it is tested and tried, I will stay with the Germanic build of the Jetta and smile when I hear a Civic rattling by. Happy motoring Jazzman!
Eddie.

To NH Dan. Come on now Dan, calm down - The foam round your mouth should be in the aerosole can ready for your first puncture.
As a garage man (I assume), you should know that mechanics never want to fix a puncture in a tyre full of the gunk that comes out of the spray can supplied instead of a spare wheel - correct? Honda don't mention that in their brochures either. Better a flat cap in a Jetta rather than a flat tyre in a Civic!!!
According to 'The Forum' fog lenses crop up, or should I say 'out' more than they should.
'Residuals' I paid £16000 for my Civic last May, best trade in price was £12400 - very impressive residual there!!!
You seem not to have grasped that I drove a Civic since last May - I just had enough of the old shake rattle & roll. Have you driven a Jetta, or are you not old enough to drive unaccompanied.
Sorry, but you don't present a very good case for the Civic.
Cheer up sunshine - it's only a car I am criticising, not your Wife, the poor soul.

In the latest What Car it came 2nd out of 4. It even beat a new Focus!!!

As What Car usually slate the Civic, that is more important (in my eyes) than a win in Auto Express.

As a garage man (I assume), you should know that mechanics never want to fix a puncture in a tyre full of the gunk that comes out of the spray can supplied instead of a spare wheel - correct? Well, thats up to Kwik Fit or who ever fixes the tyres, not you nor me.

'Residuals' I paid £16000 for my Civic last May, best trade in price was £12400 try the same with your Jetta, it will be no better.- very impressive residual there!!! (50% over 3 years, retained value vs market)
You seem not to have grasped that I drove a Civic since last May -grasped 100%- I just had enough of the old shake rattle & roll. Have you driven a Jetta, or are you not old enough to drive unaccompanied. Over2 years working for VW, probably driven more Jettas than you've seen and for a greater mileage - never denied it is a good car but just can't agree that its as far above a Civic as you think. - and I can assure you i'm old enough to drive on my own, no need to get personal either.

Sorry, but you don't present a very good case for the Civic.- about as solid as yours for the Jetta no doubt

Cheer up sunshine - it's only a car I am criticising, not your Wife, the poor soul. - 'mate' - I was just presenting the basics of a case, you and I have driven the Jetta, many others on here haven't and won't know the differences - howover small or finite. - As for criticising my wife, feel free - i'm not mad enough to be married in the first place!!!

Hello again Dan,

Don't take me so serious, I just enjoyed rattling some cages as a bit of fun while having dumped my English built Japanese Honda and therein probably lies the heart of the matter. Had Toyota's and Honda's in the past, all Japanese built and Volkswagen's, all exceptionally reliable and not requiring ear plugs. One Forum member pulled his Civic doors, boot etc apart and exposed the almost total lack of sound insulation.
Anyway, keep pushing them out the door till Honda launch Mk2.
Send me your e-mail address and I will mail you a hilarious employee assessment survey which just may have come out of a car factory.
Cheerio,

Eddie the Jett!

Hello Alanwaln,

Cars and depreciation go hand in hand some worse than others and I can live with that - It's the deterioration I had to get away from!

Incidentally, you cannot upset me - I drive a Jetta!!! When I phoned the Samaritans, they said, 'Come down off the roof, sell the Civic and buy a Jetta'
I appeal to you all - come down before you fall.

Hi TT,

Option of a spare wheel? Talk about living dangerously. Picture it - a dark wet winters night and a piece of glass cuts your tyre. I doubt if an aerosole of gunk will plug even an inch cut in a tyre. Use that big boot for a folding bicycle - it would be more useful that a can of molasses.

Like it's any better to change a tyre in such conditions. You just call Honda Assist, wait in a safe place and let them handle it. Problem solved.
