Phone Honda Assist!!! Find a safe place!!! Tommy Cooper lives on!
You would need a shave, a haircut and probably fresh underwear before the Cavalry arrived - This is UK - not 'Neverland'
I bet you believe in Santa.

Good morning Jazzman,
Just noticed your comment about handbrakes releasing in Toyota's.
You obviously have not received your recall letter from Honda UK, just dying to modify your handbrake and instructing you on how to apply the Civic handbrake. This is the first car I have needed guidance on how to perform such a simple procedure. This was my defining moment. Do I buy an anchor from a Navy surplus store, or do I abandon ship - I rolled the Civic with one foot on the ground to the nearest safest refuge - a Volkswagen dealership, shoved a brick behind the back wheel and ran like hell.
Now don't get cross again Jazzman, I am still recovering - my Doctor has taken me off suicide watch since I changed cars.

Wow, all cars have issues, my Smart had loads others still love them, my Focus had none others kick off all the time. VW have big issues with that platform regards electronics, a number of VW dealers have a backlog of owners with 2007 TDi cars without transport because the fuel pumps have gone pop. Yet yours appears fantastic (hope it stays that way as I'm not aware of VW dealer on the moral high ground).

My Civic has been fine though I have only had it three weeks. I think you will enjoy life more if you accept you are happy with your car and others are happy with theirs. Regards other peoples opinions so what. The US love the Jetta, is that a positive or negative?

You may want to update Wiki.com as it makes no mention of the Jetta being made in Germany. It suggests they are made in Mexico and shipped out in kit form to various plants around the world (but not Germany).

Greetings GJackson,
I should let you into a secret, but it's only between you and I - don't tell anyone!
There are some Civic owners on this site who take life and their Civics very seriously and having placed my tongue very firmly in my cheek, I have been 'Over Egging The Pudding' to bring out the Basil Fawlty side most of us suppress. I am aware that the Jetta is built in Mexico to feed the American love affair with this particular model. The Mexicans dance on their hats and far be it for me to suggest the Civic fanatics dance on their rose tinted visual aids, but I will now let their collective blood pressure drop below danger level.
I have nothing but praise for their unswerving loyalty, even in the face of some of the undeniable weaknesses in the Civic - It will be a good car when it's finished - Oops, they will all be reaching for their blood pressure tablets yet again - I really must remove my tongue from my cheek!
Enjoy your Civics - it is a slick looking machine and is fun to drive and I wish you all happy motoring, even when sitting in the garage waiting rooms reading the car magazines telling you about the car you should have bought - there I go again!

Eddie the Jett.

Dear Eddie
How could I ever get cross with you. Yes I did get my letter and instructions but being an elderly gentleman I did`nt panic, buy an anchor or go to a VW dealer because I am prepared to accept that these things happen not just to one make or type but to many makes and models and sensible action sorts the problems out.

Have a lovely day and keep taking the pills

Regards from Jazzman and his wonderful trouble free spaceship

They are actually pretty fast here in Holland.

If you find a handbrake that could release a defining moment and a reason to abandon your spaceship, then what about the poor Americans that had their Jetta's recalled last year because a tab on the windshield-wiper fluid container could rub against a fuel line, possibly causing a leak and fire.

Rumor has it a lot of customers where reassured when VW mentioned in the recall letter that when their car went up in flames, at least they had a spare tyre instead of a bottle of gunk which reaction to fire is unknown.

Yeh, same here, short legs, long body! even with the wheel fully up, and seat fully down, I lose the top of the rev counter. I originally looked at the Type R, and I lost a lot off the top more of the rev counter, not sure why it seemed worse than the ordinary non R!

The only slight issue i have with the dash display in my CTR is that i can't see the high beam light and the head light / cruise control lights.

I''m 6' 2" tall, but doesn't really bother me.

I like the speedo where it is because it's more like a heads up display which must be safer

Hi Alanwaln,

You miss the point of the Jetta windsrceen fluid bottle location. It acts as an automatic sprinkler system in the event of a fire. Yes mine is a diesel and I am assured that a diesel fire is much more economical compared to petrol, unless Darling Alistair slaps a tax on under-bonnet fires -carbon footprints and all that!

Fantasic!!!

Make sure you keep your washer fluid strong as foam is better than water at putting out chemical fires!!!!

That's a new one on me.

An economical fire eh?

You're not burning down your factory to get the insurance money are you?
