1st Impressions since March

I got my 2.2d ex on 01/03 and then drove to Greece 2 weeks later. I was quite dissapointed to be putting all the miles on the car straight away but, then again thats why i chose the diesel. We left folkestone at 19:00 and were in Vienna just after lunchtime the next day. We then went through Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, into Greece & got the ferry down to Rhodes from Athens.

The car was brilliant all the way and so comfortable that i managed to do 18 hrs only stopping for the toilet and a bevvy. Then we got to Romania, i had been assured that the main european road which goes through romania, bulgaria, greece to istanbul was in condition, this was the case until we got to this hell hole. There was not road it was all stones, and not small ones, big bulder like stones for around 300miles, they are doing it up, but all at once not in stages. The car handeled it well and somehow i managed to survive without a scratch. The route we took involved some steep twisty mountain passes which the car eat up. I was and still am very happy with the car, and to be honest havent yet got a fault that affects me. It was so economical getting out there i think we only filled up 5, 6 times!

How far was the entire trip?

Its about 2000 each way from calais to athens, then its a 14 hour ferry from their to rhodes. Have done it before in other cars and hated it but it was really enjoyable in the civic
