No, the space saver is a 16 inch wheel with a 135/80/16 tyre fitted. Both of the two you have quoted are too small.

I reckon the 125/70/16 tyre is too small. The overall height of the tyre wheel combination will be about 41mm too small compared to one of the normal wheels.

Best to check with your dealer if you are unsure. My spacesaver is a 135/80/16 tyre on a 16 inch rim.

Hey MThead

what size wheels do you have on your car now?

you will need to find out the size of the wheels and tyres together,
to do this you need to convert the wheel diameter from inches to mm then times the tyre profile by 2 and add them together!

e.g. 16 inch wheels with 45 tyre profile would be 16in =406mm + (45 X 2)

=496mm diameter wheels

if you do the same calculations with your wheels and the 2 space savers you should see if they are similar sizes.

The figure 45 in a tyre size does not refer to a side wall height of 45 mm. It is the aspect ratio. It is a percentage of the width of the tyre. So for example a 135/80/16 tyre would have a side wall height equal to 80% of 135mm so 108mm.

A 205/45/16 tyre would have a side wall height equal to 45% of 205mm so it would be 92.25 mm.

Do you understand what I mean. MT Head, I've worked it out and both tyre/wheels you have quoted are too small.

Thanks to all who responded to my query, I think, with the info received I will give the 2 space savers a miss & keep a look out for the correct size. I have the T135/70D15 in my garage if anyone wants it, its going for £50 it has 5 stud holes & a new Bridgestone tyre which still has the bobbles on it, the wheel has 1 or 2 storage scratches.

Hi, How much has your dealer offered you the correct spare wheel kit for?
I bought mine for £100 inc vat and that included everything, the fixing kit, cargo net and a bag to put the normal road wheel in when removed from the car. I have to say the cargo net is really useful as I use it to stop things moving around in the boot.

Same here - just collected it this morning after ordering last week. £100 inc VAT for the full kit included fitting tyre to wheel and a black plastic cover fitted over the tyre to stop it dirtying the boot!

Honda customer services refunded my £100 after I sent my comments via their customer feedback form on the Honda website.

Might be worth a try!!!

What exactly do you mean by "plastic cover" eyemdee. ??
Coz I didn't get one, unless you mean the bag for the damaged wheel.
If you mean the moulded plastic one shown in the U.K. manual, I shall be in the Dealers first thing next week, ---- shouting.

It is like an bit of elasticated black bin liner wrapped around the tyre - probably what the tyre was originally shipped to the dealers in. I shall probably remove it as it serves no purpose once installed in the car.

@Dimplyred - I have to say when I read the review of the new Focus (sorry for swearing) on the Honest John web site and noticed that Ford charge £30 for a full sized steel spare wheel or offer a space saver f.o.c. in lieu of the inflation kit, I couldn't help feeling a little disappointed at the Honda price for this item! My dealer originally quoted £150 including fitting to the car until I started to walk away!
