Best Tyre Sealant?
Hi there,
i was wondering if anyone knows which tyre sealent is best to buy? Honda's sealent seems expensive at nearly £40.00 so wondered if there was a better or cheaper alternative! I've got a couple of trips to France and Switzerland planned so would ideally like one without the 50mph speed restriction on most cheap bottles in halfords! Any help would be appreciated!! p.s. sorry if this has been covered but couldn't find anything! |

I wouldn't like to go over 50mph with any type of sealant in my tyre, come to that I think 30 would be fast enough. |

hi thanks all for reply's!
i think in the end i will go for a spacesaver but before doing so i wanted advice from someone who either knows about the gunk or had looked into which gunks best! just out of interest why is everyone so against the gunk approach? I cant see its unsafe as everyone is so careful with testing new products before they appear on the market! so apart from the obvious of being stuck if its tyre wall damage and making the tyre irrepairable? whats the problem with gunk? lol! With a spacesaver your still restricted to 50mph and if your car is fully loaded up surely not having to get everything out the boot to get at the spare wheel is a bonus! defrece |

Whether it is the best "gunk" on the market or a spacesaver you would have to be suicidal to try and go over 50 mph.
Thay are both only designed for very short term use to get you to a garage. |

yes agree that you would have to be suicidal to drive over 50mph with a product thats not recomended to be driven over 50mph!!
i'm not wanting to go against what the manufacturers recomend thats why i'm trying to see if there is a better product out there with a higher recomended speed limit! there are tyre sealents on the market that are a prevention rather than a cure (i.e. you put them in before you get a puncture) these products are expensive and from what i've seen need to be put in by a garage! but they must be speed tested to a higher standard as there is no way of telling if you did get a puncture! so reason for posting here was to see if anyone had found such a product? |

I had Ultraseal fitted in all my tyres just after I bought the car. It cost £50 for a guy to come to my house and carry out the work, which took about half and hour. At my last service, the Honda dealer said I needed a punture repair for a nail in my rear tyre.
All I had to do was pull the nail out and drive for 10 mins to ensure the hole was sealed. The tyre lost no pressure at all. |

hi Geoff,
Thanks very much for that information! just what i was looking for!! nice to here from someone with some experience on the subject!! I'm about ready for a change of tyres so will give Ultraseal a call! seems like a good idea especially if what the website says is true about extending the life of tyres! Thanks again! defrece |
