Kerbed Alloy

Hello all, girlfriend managed to kerb the front passenger wheel today, gutted anyhow, can anyone recommend an alloy repair centre or mobile service in North London (I live in Crouch End/Muswell Hill area). Any help appreciated! It the bump also managed to take a chunk of the tyre wall off, doesnt look too bad (dad has something similar on his BMW and its lasted nearly 2 years) migh have to get it checked out either way.....

I can only say 2 things:

- I wouldn't repair an alloy or drive with a damaged tyre in a fast car as the Civic - imagine you suddenly have 3 wheels with 220 km/h, you don't even have time to cry ***** )
- When I change my tyres to winter I take 16" steels (cheaper if damaged and, contrary to alloy, reparable in most cases) - and the tyres are cheaper to replace

seriously, contact your local dealer and ask one of the sales team who they use to repair their damaged alloys on part ex's etc, they should let you know - most have people in to repair damaged stuff and they will only use who they are happy with.

If the wall of the tyre is damaged, rubbed or has chunks missing, replace the tyre. You dont know how weakend it has become or what you may hit in the future, as one of the previous posters has mentioned, you do not want a tyre failure at any great speed. Especially if you have the compressor kit instead of the steel spare.!!!

If the tyre wall has only been damaged near the lip with the wheel then it'll probably be OK, most tyre places will be able to advise. However, if there's cut further down the tyre or if there's any bulging (broken belt) its safer to replace.

www.thescratchdoctor.co.uk

It gives a Civic kit for the repair of alloy wheels., for £12.95p.

P.S. They also do a paint scratch kit and a windscreen scratch kit. ??
