Has anyone tried out these tyres?
Continental Premium Contact 2. Size 205/55 R16 V are on special offer at the moment at blackcircles and they are given a 5 star rating. My requirements from a tyre are low noise and good mileage, my original Bridgestone Turanza's now have 21,000 miles on them but will need replacing soon. |

My brother had these on his car. A good tyre, very much in the mould of a Bridgestone Turanza, i.e. a touring tyre (comfort, mileage) rather than a performance tyre (outright grip, progressiveness). Personally, I really like my Turanza ER300s which are currently on my (older) civic: great in the wet and I got the other side of 25,000 miles out of a set, which is good going. I can't really compare the two directly because they were fitted on different cars, but the conti certainly ticked the right boxes and seemed comfortable and quiet, with decent levels of grip in the wet and dry. Either would be a good choice - why not go for the conti and report back?!

Just found this:
Tyre Test (run-flat) | Products | Auto Express I know it's for runflats and thus the handling characteristics will be different, but it's fair to assume the rubber will be the same. In which case both the Conti Premium Contact and the Bridgestone ER300 come out very well, particularly the bridgestone in the wet (which was my experience). Courant |

Continental Premium Contact 2 tyres fitted on the front last night. Initial thoughts from my trip to work this morning is that they may be slightly noisier than the Turanzas, but difficult to tell. Will report on wet weather performance after the next rain - don't suppose I will have to wait long.
The Turanzas had 24,000 on them and were getting close to the wear bar. |
