Handbrake fix - now available

My June 06 EX was serviced today, and the handbrake mod was carried out at the same time.

The service report includes "Carried out handbrake PUD".

Not sure the full extent of the mod, but new lever fitted and I presume the associated ratchet etc renewed. New lever is wider than old one and feels much tighter. Was told by Honda that it does not matter which way you apply the handbrake with the mod, you can either pull straight up against the ratchet or depress the button.

Do I asume from this that they actually replace the whole of the handbrake grey plastic bit as well ?

I ask because I inadvertantly quite heavily scratched mine

It certainly looks like it to me, as for the lever feeling wider, it may just be because it is all new.

Mine too. HUK are sending batches of parts to dealers. It is the handbrake lever assy that is being replaced. It is a 30 min job. Doesn't seem any different from the old one but never had a problem with it anyway. Apparently it only affects 06 and 07 cars as the modified one was fitted to 08's during production.

Mine says warranty work outstanding, so I'll give them a tinkle and get them to do it for me

Make a small mark on the handle, that way you can tell if it's been done

We laughed at him when twenty years ago, he started destroying any post with his name on it and other documents (because people would dteal them and use them in some way), he used to cut them in to bits and distribute them between bags, now 20 years later, what are we all doing!?

If he had taken that idea one step further and invented the shredder he would have been a rich man.
