Yep, facing the same problem - Civc doesn't brake that good, as the hotter days are coming :/ due to overheating

I think the brakes on the Type R are very good. Presumably they are different to the standard civic?

The brake conversion via ABP for the FN2 is a real squeeze to get within the 18's. They fit but only just. No way will they fit with 17's, I tried and failed with that mission.

I have got lastly some D2 breaks they are quite good and quite cheap. 8 pot with 330 mm discs. And they fit under 17" wheels.

While you are all saving up for the upgrades try fitting some EBC redstuff ceramic pads to the front and EBC green pads to the rear (redstuff rears not yet available.) the difference in performance is massive and will never fit honda pads again. my car now stops from any speed and in the wet with no brake fade thank f**k as i nearly filled my knickers a few times with those crappy honda pads. Dont think about it just do it your life depends on it.

Will these pads fit a Type S?
I dont really want to fit Honda pads either.
As you say, they are not that good and the brake dust is horrendous.

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but.... The discs and calipers are different on the FK2 & FN2, so the upgrades offered by ABP will not fit onto anything other than the Type R.

I went through the whole ins & outs of brake upgrades with them only a week or two ago.

Strangely, the same size brake discs are fitted to the 2.2 i-ctdi as the 1.4dsi! Surely the 2.2 carries a lot more weight in the front than the 1.4 and should therefore be fitted with bigger brakes? Go figure that one out!

To avoid brake dust, try using EBC Green Stuff Pads. I'm not sure if they're available for the Civic, but they're supposed to kick out less dust.

I'm not over impressed with the brakes on my Type S.Yes they do the job but don't have much feel and don't particularly bite when first applying them. The 1.4 I've been borrowing have more bite, feeling almost sharp in comparison-This was at town speeds, don't know the differences at higher speeds.

I think Auto express include 60-0 braking distances in their road tests. If I still have Civic road test copies (at work, and I'm away for 2 weeks) I'll put them up

mmm this feature is just what i like about the brakes, they dont bite and dont throw you too the front.
In general i dont understand this fuzz about the brakes, i had to make some emergency stops with this car and it has never let me down, at traffic lights i just brake on the engine as long as i can.
As someone said before, it could be helpfull when doing trackdays but still...
The standard brakes are SURELY good enough for daily use.
