Just under 16K miles on my Sport at the moment, swapped the fronts and rears over at about 12K and reckon I'll get at least 20K, mainly Mway miles though, with some back lane fun thrown in every now and again

Around 12.5 k miles on mine and am swapping the spent n/s/f (passenger front) Bridgestone tyre. Has had a replacement Michelin Primacy on the o/s/f sometime before my ownership which has approx 3mm left approx. Have owned it from 4.5k and I drive nearly 40 miles on twisty roads to work and back everyday in rush hour traffic. Not sure if getting good mileage or not? Tracking was out when I got the car and this has been re-set. Will get tracking checked today when get new tyre on.

Going for a Nexen N3000 205/55/16 W on the recommendation of my local tyre centre. He reckons the stronger sidewalls on these mean the handling will be better and says has had very good response and repeat purchases on these. Any opinion on these tyres?

I have just replaced mine with the same Bridgestone E300s that came with the car.

They only lasted 11,300 miles. Is that normal? Or is it the way I drive?

Cheers
Probably but you are obviously enjoying yourself

In my last Civic VTEC Sport I sold it with 25,000 miles on it and it still had the original tyres on! Which I thought was brilliant!

I'm on 13,000 at the moment in my 2.2 and have loads lefts. Diesels usually eat through front tyres quite quickly.

Just about to hit 30,000 miles with the original factory tyres. I still have about 4mm left to play with.

its ** driving style dude.! the michelin sports on the type s 225/45/17 and 18 do seem to wear a litle quicker than the standard 16" tyres.but i add possibly due to rapid driving on bigger wheels.not cheap at 125.00each

tyre mileage

my wife drives our civic like a granny mon-friday and i have hammered it since new,i have one of my diesel tuning units fitted and my first front replacement were on at 11,300 miles(205 /55 x16 bridg )i have been a tyre fitter for 25 years and i believe anything over 10000 miles is good considering the high torque of the diesel civic,i replaced mine with michelin tyres for whom i work for ,i would say that in my opinion there is no gain in swapping tyres around ,all it does is you end up buying 4 tyres at once and as long as you buy good branded tyres there is no real problem in mixing front/rear patterns as long as they are similiar in pattern and are the same speed rating

As a tyre fitter which side do you stand:
2 new tyres on the front or on the rear?
I always put the new ones on the front as that is where the greatest grip for turning and breaking is required.
Others have said the rear because the oil/grease on the tyre tread could reduce grip, and the tyres are not "bedded" in.
I agree with the 2 at a time and don't bother to rotate tyres.
Cheers,

Terry

I've got little rubber left on the fronts after 13,000 miles - maybe get 15,000 out of them, which I find a bit disappointing. Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and change them. Haven't measured the rears, but they look like new.

On the subject of front/rear fitting for the new tyres, Costco will ONLY fit new tyres to the rear (or all 4, of course) - the theory being that new fronts will grip too much and the worn rears will let go earlier and cause oversteer. When I disputed this, the fitter dug out a 'feeshul Michelin video which attempted to show the effect.

Can't say that I'm over-convinced that it would be a problem and suspect that it's just Michelin covering their corporate a*ses in case a wee granny spins out on a wet roundabout with new tyres on the front and old on the back!

Being a bit of a thrawn bugger, I moved the new tyres to the front when I got home.

tyres

you should always have new tyres fitted to the front ,if you cant steer you can go forward, when i first started ,i was told all new tyres should be fitted to the drive wheels ,but i believe your front wheels lead your car so should have the best tread

With about 40K on my Civ, I'm on my 4th set of fronts (each have lasted between 11K and 14K)

My rears are still pretty much like new - at least 5-6mm left...

Me too.

Truth could be country coded,
or it could be that aqua planing (and slush planing in the winter) - which would cause your car to spin if you lose the grip on the rear tyres first -is adressed more seriously.
