Brakes need replacing - under guarantee??
Hi there
I bought my civic at the end February 2008 from a Renault garage (it was the cheapest I found) and I love it so far. I've put about 2500 miles on it, and it now has 22,500 in total. As far as I can tell the brakes pads have not been replaced yet (nothing in the service manual) but I've started to get the audible indicator. So, had a look and the front pads definitely need replacing. Anyway, I just wanted to check if the garage that sold it to me had a responsibility to tell me that the brake pads would need replacing fairly soon, which they didn't? Thanks |

Nope. You may get some good will if you complain but unless the brakes were defective when you picked it up and they knew they were would you have any regress.

Flip Key is avalible or was avalible on Ebay. There is a post about it with the link. Oil have you decided to keep the Civic then? As for the post writer, the Renault Garage should have give the car a inspection before they relseased it to you, this should have brought up worn pads, but they don't have an obligation to replace them (as you didn't buy a Renault) they also don't have to tell you as it hadn't gone through a MOT with them (I assume) I think this is the only time that they are leagally bound to advise you to issues that may arise in the near future. Its a pain, but I think its going to be more hassle than its worth to get them to do anything about it |
