Uneaven tyre wear

hi guys. ive got a 1997 1.5vtece honda civic 5 door. its lowered 40mm all round and ive got 17" alloys on it. ive noticed that my tyres are wearing out on the inside edge on all 4 wheels. ive had a 4 wheel alignment done and had the tracking checked in 3 diffrent garages and they said it was spot on. i got the new tyres put on 4 months ago after the same thing happend to the old ones and there is about 1.5 to 2mm diffrence in the ouside tread and the inside. has anyone got any ideas to what is wrong with it??

My guess would be that it is due to the modifications, maybe the camber has been affected.

the car was ok before about 7 months ago but i had a problem with the front brake sticking which the mechanic thought caused the uneaven tyre wear. so i got that fixed and had to get new tyres aswell and ever since then ive had the problem.

Had a slight front tyres inner wear (also posted in another thread here...).
Measured the suspension - had 0°09' toe-out on both sides. Camber was 0°20' and -0°07'.
All values are (barely) within specifications, but they all worked in the same direction - inner tyre wear. So I had it realigned.
Seems like the civic is pretty touchy on this.
Btw - only summer tyres 225/45-17 seems affected. Winter tyres 205/55-16 doesn't show any sign of inner tyre wear.

This has to be something with the suspension setup, possibly in conjunction with the particular tyres you have fitted (which might be more sensitive to loading changes). When you changed them, did the tyre model change too? Either way, the core problem is most likely to be the camber change as a direct result of the rideheight change (the two go hand in hand, can't change the rideheight without some impact on the camber).

Got Michelin Primacy summer tyres and Conti WinterContact studless winter tyres, all original delivered with the car.
(In Norway all cars are delivered with two set of wheels - summer and winter - plus eventually a spare (which I haven't)).
However the summer tyres have longer mileage and experienced much more base friction, suppose that counts.
