Question 19" Rages Vs 18" Blades

Hey,

looking for more opinions on whether or not I should go for 19" rage alloy wheels on my Silver Type-S?

Down side being initial expense, and replacement tyre expense.
How much will this worsen the ride quaility and road noise?

Will they even match the car?

If anyone has any pics of a silver "S" or "R" with Rages on it please send it to me as I have seen very few pics with a silver civic.

Have to decide today

Opinions appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Didn't you have your car stolen? Is this for a replacement or have you got the car back?

If you have the car back I wouldn't bother getting the Rage alloys for the fact your car was already stolen more than likely being mistaken for a CTR with the colour coding and 2 if you kerb them they are a fortune to repair, much cheaper to buy a whole new alloy.

Oh and yes tyres are more expensive and I don't have an issue with the ride.

I didnt think that rages fit on the Type S, I thought you needed to have the Type R suspension fitted as well. not sure though ask Gaz at Holdcroft

I've never heard that one before. You do not need Type R suspension to fit 19 inch wheel Rage or any other aftermarket design. The Type R is slightly (and just slightly) lower than the Type S too

Yeh as far as I was aware they should fit fine, and very nicely at that!

I think the issue some people are thinking of is apparently Honda recommend that you only increase the alloy wheel size by 1 inch of standard, which would, in Honda's eyes, restrict the Rage Alloys to the Type-R.

Apparently according to Gaz at Holdcrofts, Honda only recommend going up to 18" with the standard rack.

07 CTR 19" Rage Alloys

Thumbs up Blades it is

Well thanks for all your replies.

I have decided to stick with the blades for a number of reasons, mainly incase I damage one of the rages as the roads are not great everywhere around here and the replacing it would be hassle. Also if I have any problems with the car (touch wood) Honda could use it as a clause to get out as the wheels are not recommended. Service at the garage was good and they said no problems fitment wise but I dont want to have a car that I am "tip toeing" about in and always thinking of potholes or planning a router differently because of my wheeels!

I dont think the white fd2 rims would suit the car but then thats my opinion but thanks for the link anyway!

The car was recovered with not a mark on it and 50 more miles on the clock parked up and I do not want to discuss it much more than that. After the incident I am more cautious as to what I say in this forum although I doubt the two were related. Car is having a new alarm system fitted and I am delighted to be getting it back in the condition it is in.

Thats brilliant news! Glad to hear you got her back! You can now properly enjoy the colour coding and it'll look stunning with the blades!

Thanks VET, I know as I only had the car one day with the silver trim. Looking forward to getting it back big time and put the incident behind me.
