I should have linked to the original post in the long thread! No, that is a service bulletin for US cars, but it's the same problem. It was to just answer your question about crap components.

The bump stops have now been done...no more noisy suspension.
Interestingly, the service receptionist called it a Honda recall..I assume she means. 'Known fix' |

Does anyone know if, after bump stops are replaced, the car should be tracked?
Reason being my nearside bump stop was replaced last year and on having the car serviced last week comment was made of abnormally early tyre wear on that side when compared to off side. Car is two years old and covered only 8k mls. |

no not at all ,only mentioned its about a 3 hour job but if its likely to alter the tracking then you would expect it to be done anyway
is your tracking out then ? |

She shouldn't really. As it isn't a safety related modification. It is a product update to enhance the vehicle. The word recall implies Honda are actively encouraging the work, where as replacements are only carried out after customer complaint.

Anyone know if this is an MOT issue? Just been informed by dealer my O/S/F bump stop is insecure and needs replacing at a cost of £280, as it is well out of warrenty.

That is bad news, have you had your car serviced by the same dealer,if so sure'ly you would be justified with a complaint about them not informing you whilst it was under guarantee ! I did'nt think the bumpstop was a safety issue - I have recently had my car Mot'd and there was'nt anything mentioned about my bumpstops, and mine are knocking everytime all the time(and yes the dealer is well informed about the noise and chosen to ignore it - but it gets on my wick!!!I did have them replaced about a year ago - thats when I started with the noise(wished I'd kept with the old ones).Hope it goes alright for you! |

Thanks for the reply, when I finally gave my head a shake I rang the dealer, who reckoned it would be an "advisory" but not a fail on the MOT. Daftest thing is apart from some killer speed bumps in Cardiff this summer I have had no problems from the front end. As it is I think the car may be going soon, so the bump stops can stay as they are.

Add me to the list.
My car had its 2 year service (at 21,000 miles) a couple of weeks ago. I mentioned suspension creaks and they have said the bump stops need replacing under warranty. Currently awaiting stocks in order to get it done. Not surprised they've run out! 57 reg 2.2 Diesel Sport. |
