Pads.

After I gave up fitting my own disk pads to my cars years ago, like a silly s-d, I always left it to the Dealers to fit them when they phoned to inform me know that they needed replacing.
I am a bit wiser now, after joining this forum, SO ----

The distance between the actual brake calipers and the disks is 3mm, what should it be please, for a reasonable amount of wear left .
I can't remember, or didn't even look to be honest, when I bought the car last September.
I have never minded paying out the dosh for anything, if it's justified.

If that is the distance between the steel backing plate of the pads and the discs, then they do need replacing.

Thanks DR, but Oh B-gger, - I have never got through a full set of pads in 15k, in all my years of driving, whether they were made using asbestos, or in recent years- porridge.

Whats a full set going to cost using the Dealer then DR. ?
Or will it be an issue if I use my faithful 25 year relationship with my tyre fitting company.?
This is my 4th Honda, each did about 30k before I changed.
Never had the pads replaced on any of them.

The brake pads have an audible wear indicator attached. It's a thin metal bar that will touch your brake pads and give off a high pitched squeal when your pads need replacing (very high tech!)

The thing is, I was never told this until quite recently, and so when my brakes started to make a funny noise, I stamped on the pedal a few times when driving, and miraculously the noise stopped. When the honda mechanic checked, I'd snapped the wear indicator off! LOL

If I'd had the option, I think I would have fitted EBC pads instead, I'm still not very happy with the stopping power of the standard setup.

It's been a l o n g time, since I changed brake pads myself on my cars and to be honest had forgotten how to.
Well done sambuca, on your most clear instructions and photo's.
It all come back to me now
I am very tempted -- £57? against £170 odd. No contest really.
