Other Steering Wheel Off Centre

Got my car serviced today. Also asked to get my wheel alignment done. The dealer uses a local wheel specialist (tyres, balancing, ALIGNMENT etc).

Got the car back and the bloody steering wheel is miles offset i.e. driving straight ahead the wheel is at 10 minutes to 4 (or worse). I absolutely HATE when the steering wheel is off centre!

Brought it back three times and its STILL off centre. The most annoying thing is that it was perfectly centred before they got at it

The dealer gave me some blurb about the EPS steering being very difficult to get right. Is that true?

In fairness I did watch them locking the steering wheel straight ahead before they did the tracking so I dont know what they are doing because as soon as I drive on the road its miles off.

Is the story I'm getting about the EPS being difficult to get right true?

Its going back again tomorrow and will go back again and again and again and again until its fixed. Bringing a spirit level with me

That is one of the drawbacks of having the geo done. If you take it back and before they do the tracking again, put the wheel in the same position, but on teh opposite lock then that can often correct it.

In your case, if it's at 10 and 4 then get them to lock it at 8 and 2 and then they redo the tracking.

It worked like that on the IS200 I had done (twice) because of the same reason.
