Soft brakes

I am not sure if its me but my brakes seem to be getting a bit soft. A couple of pumps makes them nice and hard (ooo sounds a bit rude) then they go straight back to soft.

Anyone else noticed this happening to their car?

It feels like they need bleeding to me, think I shall have to visit the dealer.

I had a Jazz as a loan car the other day and the brakes on it were much better than on the Civic. I feel as if the Civic brakes need a lot of pressure to get them working well

I've noticed this aswell. It seems to me that there is a lot of travel in the pedal if you have to stop suddenly. Going to get the dealer to check it out next week. It does feel that they need bleeding. They do seem to be getting better, wondered whether the pads had not been properly bedded?? Best to get it checked to be on the safe side!

yer the civic brakes are a bit on the gentle side , like your megane my 307 was as egger to brake as go but at least you felt safe if you needed to brake quick but if driven by someone not used to them they were a bit sharpe on your neck why do i notice a trend here not only the styling is very much done for show , i think the whole car is done for show i,e the big brakes but in real life a bit weedy.

Had my ES i-shift for 10days now and find the brakes very reactive and certainly not soft. Perhaps some variation in set up from car tocar.

My brakes on mine are spot-on. Maybe it's down to preferance and what you were used to before the Civic.

I cannot call mine soft at all, when my better half drove it recently, she nearly put us through the windscreen the first time she touched them. they are obviously better than the ones on her Ka!

Question Brakes - didn't work?

I was travelling at 25 MPH towards a T Junction - applied brakes twice - nothing happened. Ended up crashing.

Police attend - as I had not been drinking, speeding and no one was hurt - no charges against me. No skid marks on road, or signs of oil.

Any ideas how this can happen with a 1.8 ES with ABS and PAS??

Sounds dodgy, I've checked my fluid but thats ok, and I have been finding my braking ok, but not as soon as I'd like, and sometimes feels as though little is happening..... worrrrry..................

Hi.

The car was not driveable and is a write-off. I have raised the bizarre circumstances with my insurer, Honda and the RAC to check the brakes. It seems no one is interested as no one was injured. And therefore it is up to me to commission a qualified accident investigator to investigate - a significant cost.

The road was wet, no surface water though and the visability was good - accident happened at lunchtime.

same problem hear.

I was told that the civic has a duel master cylinder or something so you get a very gentle brake pedal unless you stamp on it.

well i am not convinced. had a jazz the other day as a courtesy car and the breaks were great. got back in the civic and almost ended up in a t junction! they just feel so soft

My brakes got better after I changed the pads/discs with non-honda ones.
