Halfords do an aluminium paint with clear lacquer that is perfect for wheels.

I'm afraid the number has worn away but it's a 'Halfords' touch-in pen that has a clear plastic cap that pulls off to reveal a nib or you can twist off the whole cap to reveal a very fine brush. The body is the 'Aluminium' colour and it says that sideways on the label. The clear lacquer is in a similar touch-in pen with a clear body. They can be found in Halfords hanging on a one of those 'multi choice' racks in the body care/polish/paints section.

I haven't needed to use it on my Civic wheels but it looks a very good match. I've used it a few times on my wife's 207 and it matched perfectly as well as on my old Mini that had some minor scuffing on the rim edge (not done by me I might add) and you could not see the repair after it was lacquered.

I've checked the reference numbers:

Aluminium Paint: 388413

Laquer: 391151

(Hope I copied them down correctly )

I have the same problem: bought my Civic second hand, with some minor scratches on one rim. I o have some silver paint, but all silver is not silver, or how must I put it. The color just doesn't match the rim. I've got the 7-spoke 17" wheels, which seem to be a darker shade of silver than most other rims.
Anyone know a (near) perfect color match?

Unfortunately I have found a very small scuff on the rim of a wheel. I tried the Halfords Aluminium paint but it is too silver. I found a Dark Silver wheel paint in a Motorists Shop in Rugby but it was around £10 for a small tube with brush and there was no guarantee it would match. They only had one tube left and said they wouldn't be restocking it.

There must be a darker silver touch-in available but the Honda wheel seems to have a blueish/black tint to it.

Best suggestion from my Honda garage was to leave it until I get a few more, then spend £50 or so getting it done by a professional wheel repairer. Trouble is you could do it again the next day and be back to square one!

Caught one of my wheels today, on the one and only large stone lodged in the base of a hedge a mile long.
Have 3 dings all close together right on the rim, each 7 -10mm dia' and certainly 2.5mm deep.
Has it gone too far to be done lads, as I have never wacked an alloy before, so don't even know if they use fillers on them.
Thought I would ask, as my dealership have their own smart repair side.
Do like to go see them, armed with a bit of info'.

Ouch! Damned annoying. I think most Honda dealers sub contract the repair of alloy wheels to specialists in that field. Only they can tell you whether the wheel is repairable. I had the misfortune to rather badly damage an alloy on my previous Civic (Coupe). It was professionally repaired and then the whole wheel re-lacquered. It cost about £36 but was a superb job. Not cheap but I couldn't live with the damage. There are also mobile outfits that repair alloys and paintwork. Should be able to get a free estimate/assessment. Good luck!

Chips-Away do some 'limited' alloy repair, as do some local tyre shops, depends whether the lacquer needs baking on IIRC (some do, some don't, apparently?????).

To my surprise doubtingtom, My dealer does have its own smart repair side, thought they were telling me porkies at first and farmed stuff out, but its true.
If your wheel was repaired through a dealership at £36, thats makes me feel better.
If the dings on mine are not too deep and can be done, I suppose it makes little difference to the costs if the ding is slight or very bad.
So annoyed , all the cars with alloys on, that I have owned and never done it before.
Thanks Mate.
