Alloy wheel brush

My kids bought me an alloy wheel brush from Halfords at xmas & I used it today, what a brilliant tool it is, it gets right into the places you can't reach with anything else.

I've never been a fan of the wheelbrushes. Very harsh and spray you in the face with dirt.

Real men use wash mitts:

Use that every week, and dry using a waffle weave towel.
Every 2-3 months I wax my wheels using Poorboys Wheel Sealant.
Every 6-12 months I take the wheels off and clean them properly, removing every last bit of dirt. Then 3 coats of wax.

Although this may be a little extreme for most. :P

ask yourself this... would you clean you car with that brush? the finish on your you wheels is the same as the body. use a soft cloth and rinse with plenty of water. then use the same wax which you use on the body and build up a good barrier to protect them from the winter salt.

I cleaned the laquered part of the wheels with a sponge then I used the brush to get into the hard to reach places like inside of the wheels.

Make sure that alloy cleaner isn't too abrasive. They can often ruin the finish of alloys and rust your nuts.

If you clean the wheels properly, maybe use the cleaner if necessary, polish them and give them a good coat of wax, you'll find that you'll never need to scrub the wheels again as the dirt will simply wipe off.

The Poorboys Wheel Sealant helps alot with this - it bonds to the wheels and stops stuff sticking and because it's designed for wheels, it can actually cope with hot brake dust being flung at it. This is where your normal car wax isn't as hard wearing or resistant to heat.

When it arrives, open the tub. It smells fantastic!

Ive read the review about both of the comma products dawson, the tyre shine is an aerosol spray thats supposed to last for weeks, quite sceptical seeing as the local car valeting places tyre shine doesnt last the journey home, as regards the alloy cleaner, well, im hoping the product testing and awards its won would meen its not corosive to the alloy, time will tell, like you said maybe give them the once over then seal them, hopefully a quick rub over now and again will keep them tip top...heard it smells good too.
