Spare Wheel
Hey there, just been for a test drive, and a tentative dealling seesion.
The sales guy reckons that the spacesaver spare whell will cost over £300 to fit as the fitting kit has to be purchased as well. this is not what the brochure/website say, has anyone got experience of this? cheers |

My space saver spare wheel ordered as an extra when I bought the car from the Stuart Graham dealer in Crewe, was £110.00 and it is secured in place with a fitting kit.
I purchased the car new and collected it on 29.6.06, so the price can't have gone up so much in 7 months !! |

MilanoRed, give the guy the benefit of the doubt, ask him to confirm the price. If he still says £300, I would think twice about doing any business there.

If your at the deal stage, get it put in as a freebie through your negotiations. I did this with mine and threatened to walk at one point if it wasn't included. They can only say no

I phoned Honda customer services and told them I was not happy that if my wife breaks down on the motorway that she has to muck about with the gunk to repair the tyre and if the hole is too big, she can't do anything about it.
I received a free space saver. |

The fitting kit is only a bolt anyway (so unless it's gold it seems overpriced!). Granted if you get everything bolt, bag, cargo net and spare cover it might be a bit more (£200 does seem too expensive though).
For £100 it's worth having, and to swing the deal I'd expect it included for nothing. |

Mine is coming with the car at £100.
Whether the dealer fits the kit or I do is not an issue for me. As long as the spare comes with the kit as standard. And they don't nick the can of gunk. That way I have a choice should I be unfortunate enough. |

Another one at £100 fitted. I am sure that this was the price in the accessories brochure and on line back in June 2006 the last time I looked. Mine came with fitting kit, a bolt actually, a large plastic bag for the dirty wheel and a cargo net to secure it in the boot.

Managed to get it thrown in as an extra £100 to my trade-in Corolla.
By the way, can anyone tell me where it's actually fitted?? In the under-boot space??? |
