Get you home gunk - used in anger for the first time!

I picked up my car from the dealers, after having some problems sorted (see other boards) when 1/2 mile down the road I pulled up with a flat tyre! A quick inspection revealed the culprit, a self-tapping screw in my front left tyre

So, I removed the screw, let air out of tyre (there wasn't a lot left!) and filled up with gunk. Tried inflating tyre with supplied compressor, only to discover the tyre was leaking air at nearly the same rate it was taking in air. Tried infating with puncture at bottom of tyre. Out comes high pressure jet of gunk. Pressed finger over hole and managed to get enough air to qickly gather up bits and make a dash for it.
Imagine what a catherine wheel would look like bolted onto a car...

Got back to dealers with one very splattered car and one mostly inflated tyre and infromed them 'the screw must have come from (their) workshop'.

Car kept in overnight, and the next morning it had a brand new tyre, and repair kit FOC. And the car was mostly cleaned of gunk.

The moral of the strory? Get you home gunk is messy, but it did what it said on the tin! I know it would not help if the tyre was gashed or torn, but it did work on this occasion.

Would I prefer a space saver spare? Possibly- the jury's still out.

Gunk is not for me. Imagine a cold January night on the side of a busy A-road. No Ta....

Lucky! Having not had a puncture for 15 years, Jayne phoned me the other day in a minor fret with a nail stuck into the rear left. Tyre hadn't gone down, so she drove about 2 miles, slowly, to a tyre place where they repaired it for £15.

Must get a spare - £100 well spent I think.

I had a screw in the front drivers side wheel yesterday evening; of course nowhere to take it so I pumped it up and rechecked it this morning where I drove straight to KwikFit who repaired it for £17.50

I'm just getting a bit annoyed with the Civic now, not because of the Civic but everything possible which can go wrong seems to be.

The better a car and the more you care about it, the more the little things upset you. I think it's an illusion. On our Y reg Yaris, nothing ever goes wrong (because there's nothing to it, and we don't care about it). Fact is, it has collected dents and scratches, and it rattles a bit, and it's a bit noisy, and so on....

After getting a nail in my tyre and a bit of a scare; not to mention I drive 28miles to work every day, I've just reserved myself a spare tyre kit and am going to pick it up in an hour.

The only bad part (apart from the £100) is that I now have to empty my hidden boot space ready
