Are Wheels under Warranty

I seem to have a bad case of wheel laquor bubbling up or is it just ally rot.The car was bourght new Jan 2006 the wheels 18" Altimos have been cleaned once sometimes twice a week to try and keep them looking new,but i am now wasting my time.Theres no excuse of it being salt of the roads as theres hardley been any snow/ice since last year.I cannot seem to find anything about the wheels in my manuals under the warranty.Just wondering if i should complain to Honda ?

Yes complain to the Dealer, I had a Jazz and all the alloys were replaced due to a bad batch.
In fact it was the dealer that noticed it, took pictures and sent to Honda UK.

i've just had all 4 of mine replaced, no questions asked, they took photos, sent them to Honda UK and had them replaced within days. Apparentley it is a known problem mostly with accords with simmilar wheels but civics are going the same.

did you get to keep the old wheels? if not where do they go, would be worth paying and having them sorted, or are they refurbed and then sent out on warrenty claims?

I've just bought an Accord, with similar style two-tone wheels. It was explained to me, that there was a common problem with early styles of the wheels. But has been resolved by removing the sharp edge between the two colours on the alloy, and softening the join.

Not sure how true this is - but my wheels look so kewl!

In my case the Dealer changed the wheels with new, was told they were getting sent back to Honda UK for investigation.

Just wondering, what have you cleaned your alloy wheels with over the past year?

I have noticed on one of the spokes of the wheels a raised marking like a joined together "JM".

I wonder if this is the manufacturers logo or the type of alloy ?

In either case this is exactly the same marking as on my old Lexus IS200 alloys and those wheels are well known for corroding

The IS200 wheels started going after about 2 years and were replaced under warranty.

That looks like damage (from a high kerb or something) to me.

I swear I can see 'scrape' marks where something has done that damage.

Hi All,
I too have the same problem as Scol78, mine are just over a year old and are even the same wheels. I've only noticed it on 2 wheels. Taking it to honda soon. Is there a dodgy batch out there of 18inch Altimos?

Im not going to look at mine, im still checking my fog lights every few days, we will end up with a morning ritual, standing on the driveway with a checklist ticking off the things that are still ok lol

You either have supernatural eyesight or mine is deteriorating, can't see it for looking!

Bungle how high are the kerbs in Kent?
You notice the damage is starting on all the sharp edges and nowhere else

The marking is quite prominent on the seven spoke EX wheels I have. I will obviously need to photo it when I get the chance (probably the weekend now).

Maybe the other style wheels are from different sources ?

I have seen a few kerbs high enough to do that!

The only reason I mentioned it is because it looks like the blistering has been started by damage, and yest the leading edge would be the most damaged in that case.

I am not saying the wheels are not faulty with that blistering, I was just wondering how the damage happened in the first place, especially the bits that look like scratches... Honda might say the blistering is due to previous damage and refuse to relpace or repair them.

Anyway, whatever the cause, I hop it gets sorted ASAP for you
